It may or may not be an OK team in terms of playoffs, but it should be a good enough group to follow this year. I’ve been ploughing and tilling the grounds getting our gardens prepped, and while sitting on my tractor, I was thinking to myself that I’m really looking forward to listening to weekend games this summer.

My guess is they sign Alonso and offer Bregman a massive deal with deferrals.

I didn't make a prediction I made a statement. Simple things are hard for some
an ok team can also easily miss. If it was my 300 million it certainly wouldn't be enough

I guess I better agree since you have a shortfuze lol. It was a statement. Would you have preferred if I had said In my opinion it's a lot of money for a mediocre team.

I’d be pretty happy with just Alonso. His bat along with Santanders would provide the pop they were missing last season. Bregman would be icing on the cake

Shows some good depth, with some guys ‘falling off’ or not making it due to injury, plus some guys who could easily get back in the picture with an adjustment here or there. Not unique to this system or anything.
Light on top end talent.
Opinions on Kasevich varying quite a bit. Mitchell has him 10th internally, other rankings have him fringe top 100.

I don't know if I could take the heartbreak if we miss on both Alonso and Bregman. Any trade options? Please Shatkins land one

Yeah I said either or. I truly don't think they would even be entertaining both of them at this stage. Bregman would just fill 3B without any other infield positioning issue, while if Alonso wasn't DH-ing, Vladdy would probably have to play 3rd. I would prefer a stable 3B rather than the revolving door we saw last year.
I feel like the thing that will make or break this offseason is the Gimenez deal.
Santander, Scherzer and Hoffman are no brainer moves imo. They all fill a clear need.
Trading Horwitz (.790 ops) for Gimenez (.636 ops) looks less attractive without Alonso or a solid DH.
As of now I would still prefer Horwitz on this team with internal options at 2b over Gimenez.
It starts to look a lot better if they actually replace Horwitz’s offensive production with a really solid player like Alonso but that move still feels high risk. It’s a lot of money for a declining player.
If he rebounds it could work. But that contract is quite nerve wracking long term.
But if they do sign another bat like Alonso and Gimenez rebounds then suddenly the Atkins vision makes more sense.

What do you fellows buy for your baseball preview magazine? I used to buy Athlon but can't find it in stores. I see a Lindy's 2025 Preview on the shelf but not sure if it's as good?
Kasevich is actually easy to explain. He looks a lot like Leo Jimenez (extremely similar tools) but the guys who see him as a fringe top 100 are projecting more power based on his frame.
High average, no power SS would be about 10th in the system, but any uptick in power would lift his projection.

If you are looking for a season preview, every sports site will have one soon but the current Jays preview is that the rotation is good, but will likely need a 6th guy to make 10 or more starts, the back end of the pen is much improved but they need better than Little and Nance (unless Little takes a huge jump and Nance's outcomes match his stuff (top 20 pitcher in Stuff+), and the Jays will struggle with sequencing unless they sign another hitter because they will likely hit Springer leadoff).
