Definitely like his Triple A stats no question there, but Spencer Horwitz was slightly better than him down there last year and how did that work out for him.....
Comparing an apple to an orange.
If your general point is that impressive prospects don’t always translate, that’s fair.

Who was the player suspended last year? I think he was a pretty good prospect? Is he still a prospect and how soon will he be in the majors?
I think you mean Orelvis Martinez.
My personal belief is that the suspension badly damaged perceptions of his upside .
But the kid can rake.
Lots of power at all levels.
Not sure where he gets an opportunity at this time since he’s not a great defender at 2b/3b/SS and there’s guys ahead of him at each spot.
He’s one of a group of guys who’ll likely start in AAA despite already having success at that level til either the D improves or he hits his way up.
The Bisons offence should be pretty great this year.

I do believe if you believe in a young player, you sign him early long term and live with the ups and downs. The perfect player does not exist. This is what happens when you dick around, you end up walking a star player straight to free agency with nothing to show for it. It just doesn’t make sense to me how you can bungle a situation so badly.

Well they are talking and it's still a full year away. Maybe both sides are comfortable with it and believe they will get something done. People are stressing out over something that may never happen.

Post meetings pre Christmas lull isn’t fun.

Still on on good names, so that’s a lil something.

I am following what’s happening with Burnes….and woukd still love to see him signed. It’s ao valuable to have a horse at the front of the rotation for the next handful of years while hopefully young pitchers grow and advance to backfill eventual departures of vets. And there’s actually a decent wave of starters coming along who’d do well to be slotted at the back of the rotation (Bloss, Tiedemann, Yesavage, Rojas, Macko and Perez)

Also….where’s the lefties at?

Okay the moron Morosi chimed in...Corbin Burnes will NOT be signing with the San Francisco Giants.

Giants know they have him in the bag and won't up their offer because if he had any intention of signing here, he would have already

Using the media now to extract a few more million from the team he is signing with

As others have said, our management needs to grow a pair and make time-limited take it or leave it final offers

They have to set the tone for the future that they will not be used when they are offering massive overpayments

To be clear, I want Atkins gone but he has signed Guasman, Springer, Ryu, Semien, Ray, Bassitt, and a good batch of relief pitching. The team was on the rise and the future wasn't uncertain like it is right now.

Pro sports is a what have you done for me lately league. He's also let Semien walk, not signed Vlad and Bo. Signed a CF that couldn't hit, traded for a LF now CF that couldn't hit and has a RF that has regressed so much he's better a bench player than a starter. Thought Isiah Kiner-Falefa was our answer at 3B to only trade him away the first chance he got. Signed Yimi to a 2 year contract when clearly he has regressed a lot. What have you dont for me lately ROSS!!! Lately we are 7th worse top 10 salary bottom of the league prospect organization. Even the baseball gods hate him we dropped from 7th to 8th OA pick.

The question is, do you get 2021/2024 Vlad or do you get fat 2022/2023 Vlad? One you can watch for $500 million the other is an expensive Groundball machine. You are right there is no perfect player, but there are red flags to Vlad that I know most people will overlook or not care about on the back of his rebound year last year.

This all makes sense. But there is no magic ball when it comes to players of this calibre. You don't want to play with fire when it comes to franchise players. What if you give him away for little, or worse, see him walk away with getting nothing in return and he flourishes elsewhere?

At this point, signing Vlad is just as much about buying goodwill as it is locking up your franchise player for a decade plus. What message are you sending to your team, other players you may want to court, and just as importantly, your fans.

Letting Vladdy go at this point will set this franchise back years, in more ways than one.

The way I look at it, if Vlad walks we likely had a disaster season and they clean house and I would rather a new front office have a clean slate vs. a desperate front office making shortsighted decisions trying to kick the can down the road for someone else to deal with knowing they are one bad season away from being ditched. (should have been replaced already)

The media guys are now linking us to the likes of Max Kepler and Joc Pedersen.

This team is toast with these guys in charge!
Pederson would be a big addition, he would just need a platoon partner.

Complaining about rumours is weird. They mean next to nothing.
