The players know best, much more accurate than the talking heads on TV and spreadsheet jockeys on X
Is it though? Modern arena with good equipment, and the ability to actually tend to the ice there constantly instead of being f***ed over by a basketball court probably helps. Also Vegas getting the fifth most votes for "best ice" is amusing to me.
I think no NBA team makes a huge difference. And Foley seems to spare no expense similar to the O6 and other huge market teamsIs it though? All good. I hate the makar/Hughes argument. Points wise, Hughes is amazing, but IMO closer to a 2024 Bouchard playoffs player than a Lidstrom complete dman since Hughes plays little defense and no PK, but I respect that the Norris is heavily weighed towards offense. For sure I guess I shouldn't have brought it up, pointless argument, I didn't realize your were an AVS guy my bad. I was just talking for the Norris cause you originally stated Makar dominated when it was actually very close (maybe not in pa votes), even with Quinn's injuries they're basically the same PPG and he's been noticably off. 1.15 vs 1.13 for Makar. I'm a Jets fan btw I've just seen him play a lot since I live in van
Also Makar has Nate.

I tried to dissect stats a bit further to see why they voted this way but didnt find much. Only thing I can think of is they objectively respect the Jets d core or system more?Yeah that stuck out to me. Hellebyuck is unquestionably the best goalie this year. Most wins, best GAA, best SV%, best GSAA. Vasilevski was close though.
It has nothing to do with the Norris or missing time. Two years in a row the players voted Cale as the best d man and by a large margin. End of story. Hard for some people to acceptI don't think kuch getting playmaker over mcdavid is a big shocker at all, he's ridiculous. Also if Quinn Hughes didnt get injured before 4 nations he was trending to win the Norris again. Hughes bros aren't very durable though unfortunately.
Or it's reputation votes for Shesterkin and Vasi. I mean I don't think there's much issue choosing Vasi if you can argue Winnipeg's defense is superior to Tampa's but I'm not really sure you can. Without doing a deep dive, Hellebyuck's GSAA is higher and that accounts for total shots against, quality of chances against, etc. Relative to the other goalies in the league, Hellebyuck saved more goals than what you'd ordinarily expect.I tried to dissect stats a bit further to see why they voted this way but didnt find much. Or the players don't give as much credence to goaltending stats than the rest of us do.I tried to dissect stats a bit further to see why they voted this way but didnt find much. Only thing I can think of is they objectively respect the Jets d core or system more?
Except Makar ended the season with a higher point per game than Hughes? He would've ended the season with less points than Makar even had he been healthy. You act like the points per game to start the year is going to carry through, usually players slow down their pace deeper into the season they get.I said before his injury just before 4 nations. He was ahead of Makar in points or tied but with 10 less games played. Then he was out for quite awhile and hasnt been the same unfortunately. Lots of injuries this season but that's the way she goes.
Like I stated hughes PPG was higher at the time of his injury, but then after coming back he slowed down, he's not as durable. No need to get so defensive we already hashed this out if you took the time to read the threadExcept Makar ended the season with a higher point per game than Hughes? Also Makar with 30 goals, Hughes has never even hit 20 in his life.
I wouldn't jump to this conclusion. It's interesting that the players look at Draisaitl as a side kick.
Also a decent chunk of players voted they'd like to see the 3-2-1 point system adopted.
But 663 NHL players did...this season...while Draisaitl has been "outperforming" McDavid.I wouldn't jump to this conclusion.
The poll is based largely on recent history as well as present day - hence all of the Crosby love. But 663 NHL players did...this season...while Draisaitl has been "outperforming" McDavid.
They add it because they just feel like having some fun. Don't be so uptight.Lol do they add a "best fashion" vote just so they can get Toronto players in? Embarassing.
110 minutes, 2:08/game on the PK for Cale. Second on the team (per game, no min gp filter). For sure I guess I shouldn't have brought it up, pointless argument, I didn't realize your were an AVS guy my bad. They should add a "Who's the best at Fortnite" category for Laine and WalmanThey add it because they just feel like having some fun. Don't be so uptight.
Offensive black hole you say110 minutes, 2:08/game on the PK for Cale. Second on the team (per game, no min gp filter).
10 minutes, 0:09/game on the PK for Hughes. That's 10th for the Canucks (per game, min 15 gp.)
Their TOI/pg is virtually identical.
Besides that this is a 2 minute per game "offensive black hole" for Cale which has an underlying effect on PPG, what it also shows is that only one of these players is an all-situation player.
PP ending with a shorty is dumb tbh. The only PP-related rule that should be changed is a PP happening regardless if a goal is scored on a delayed penalty. There's no good reason to cancel it out.
Still neither had Draisaitl. Hes a good playmaker though, but the league knows who is the MVP in EDM.The poll is based largely on recent history as well as present day - hence all of the Crosby love.
