Vikings released CB Akayleb Evans.

Just more dirt piled on to that atrocious 2022 draft class. (Evans was a 4th) I could completely review that now (would be a F) and we're not even 3 full years in yet. And it all started with that horrible trade down.

They made an odd trade down in terms of value that draft. Went for volume of 4 picks over just using their first and second. Sent picks 12 and 46 to Det for 32/34/66. Then swapped 34 for 53 and 59. Jumped back up from 53 to 42.

Took S Cline at 32. CB Booth at 42. OG Engram at 59. LB Asamoah at 66.

Could have stayed at 12 to take S Hamilton. Between picks 43 to 46 were WR/WR/OLB/DE. So, still a chance they could have taken CB Booth there.

So, they basically ended up adding OG Engram and LB Asamoah as the price to drop from the #1 S in Hamilton to take Cline instead.

One of those moves where quantity doesn't net out the quality.

Picks bust, it happens, but I even said at the time Cine could be the next Ed Reed and that trade was horrible, especially if you wanted a Safety, why not stay and take Hamilton like you said? And if you are gonna move down that far, how do you not get a future first? And if you're not getting a first, you shouldn't have had to give up 42.

It was just bad all around. 5th-7th* rounders are lottery tickets so I'm not gonna get bent out of shape when those miss. But you're telling me out of Cine, Booth, Ingram, Asomoah and Evans all you got we're 2 complete busts, a special teams guy and 2 players who, granted, did start for you, but were so bad eventually got benched, with one now being waived.

*(funny enough the best players from that class are 5th or later, Chandler and Nailor and they're just replacement level)

2023 isn't looking much better other than Addison. And this year traded up for Turner and he can't even get on the field.

Pick 12 on its own should be worth 32 and 34 and likely even a day 3 pick as well. No need to give 46 as well to drop 20 picks back to 66.

Teams in the later 20's move up 4-6 spots and give up a 3rd (close to pick 90). Talking 20 spots in round 1 to drop.

Forbes was drafted ahead of Gonzalez who was up there with Witherspoon as the top rated CB that draft. Fell to NE.

No surprise to see guys moved out when a new regime arrives. Draft position matters little to the incoming staff. All about whether the player fits into the new regime’s schemes.

It’s still pretty shocking to have a first round pick not even make it to December of year 2. He played 20 games.
New regimes. Not unheard of. 2 years is quick. Typically, you let them ride it out and look for a trade in the off-season, even if it is a flip of draft positions, where you add a 7th to get a 6th in return for him.
I just remember being shocked that Wash took him ahead of Gonzalez who was falling.

Interesting that he got past that many of the bottom 12 teams? I'm assuming claim order by record.

1st round SB has been paid. Just on the hook for base salaries moving forward.

I didn't think it was that bad of a hit and there was no head contact. 2 games should have been enough unless there wss prior bad acts.
Then you need to get your eyes checked as Lawrence was hit in the head which made it slam on the turf.

Al-Shaair also has a history of violent behavior towards other players. The game has no need for fake tough guys.

Yes i thought there was a history. The view i saw , from farhter back, looked like he was hit below the neck . That close up looks like it was about chin high. With head conract and previous behviour it should have been more than 3 games. At least 5 or 6.

I'm a Texans' fan and this is an insane take. All he caught was head.

3 games is fine. Wouldn't have been upset at 4.

That hit wasn't a sports play.
