Daniel Jones shouldn’t have been drafted that high in the first place, John Mara should be called out for that shit storm because the sole reason the Giant's picked Jones was because he knew the Manning family.

Whoever picks the new QB, fresh start.
they went with Barkley the year prior over Darnold/Allen. But, didn't have the Offensive coaches to develop them. So, good that they passed (for Allen's development). Jones/Haskins were not a good QB class. A 4 year starter but limited upside and a 1 year starter who wasn't mature.

Passed on taking JJ McCarthy/Penix. Not a big fan of Sanders personality (I like a more even keeled temperment QB, just a personal bias). Ward, he's very much an off script guy, so playing in structure, not his forte and honestly, he's going to wow you while at the same time frustrate the heck out of you for missing easy passes.

Raiders, they came off a bye week and Miami was flying home cross country on a short week and still got beat running away in the second half.
Titans, just going to roll with Levis as they will aim to make a decision on him in the off-season.
Browns, just going to be the Browns.

5 clubs with 2 wins. Those 3 plus the Giants and Jags.

Giants finish with TB, Dal, NO, Bal, Atl, Ind, Phi
Jags finish with Hou, Ten, NYJ, LV, Ten, Ind,
Raiders finish with Den, KC, TB, ATL, Jax, NO, LAC
Browns finish with Pit, Den, Pit, KC, Cin, Mia, Bal
Ten finish with Hou, Was, Jax, Cin, Ind, Jax, Hou

Ten/Jax have a H2H still, so someone is winning those games.
Raiders/Jags meet so someone will win that game.
Browns in tough with 4 divisional games, plus KC, Den, Mia.
Giants, most winnable game is the Dallas one without Dak.
I was not aware the Titans have two games left against the Jags. They may take themselves out of contention for one of the top QBs with two wins there.

They are divisional rivals. So have to play one another twice. So one or both could be out of the race to the bottom if they split.

Figure the worst team will max out at 3 wins based on what the 2 win teams have remaining.

Carolina has 3 division games vs TB and Atl. Plus KC, Phi, Az and Dal without Dak.

Figure the worst team drafts Sanders. Then for Ward, hard to say as he’s a highlight reel guy but misses simple throws. Does your HC (and I would only trust an offensive HC) have what it takes to try to correct that. Not banking on a defensive HC to do that.

Interesting that they passed over lock at QB.

Does it mean they think DeVito won’t win thus keeping the giants at 2 wins?
I don't know for sure but I thought I read that the players wanted a change to something but not to Lock if that was the option. That was a few weeks back.

But now with Jones getting "Carred" ,,, may as well go with the beloved cousin Danny Devito.. May make it entertaining rather than watching Daniel Jones "Light" in Lock

Last year it felt like DeVito is one of those QBs that plays the game erratically enough and with enough effort that he might accidentally with them a game or two.

This year they have tape on him though, so he could secure the tank.

Jags play 3 games vs currently 2 win Ten and LV. So most likely 2 of those 3 clubs get to 3 wins. Maybe they all do.

Then it would be down to Clev and NYG. Cle with their erratic Winston at QB. Giants with DeVito.

A tank battle between Mac Jones, Jameis Winston, Tommy DeVito, Gardner Minshew and Will Levis will make for a very entertaining final stretch of the season for all the sickos watching the NFL for draft order.

I'm looking forward to it.

LV at some point turn back to AOC but yes that is what the QB situation looks like. What is the word of Lawrence? It’s a sprained AC joint.
He got his deal so he’s good to play if cleared I would assume.

I’m sure raiders players thought the same thing with Carr. But nfl is a business and the giants don’t want to be on the hook for his contract next season if he gets hurt between now and end of the season. 7 weeks is early for a pull but just goes to show how much they don’t want him back.

So they don't want him, why not just cut him today?

Does that 47M hit go to this season if he's cut today or is that added to next year?
Jones regardless of being cut or not, will count the full $47 million against the Giants cap this season as $81 mill of his $160 mill deal was fully guaranteed at signing.

It's the $22.2 mill in future dead cap that depends on whether they designate Jones as a pre or post June 1 cut.

Jones will be paid $82 mill for 23 and 24 seasons. They will have taken around $60 mill in cap charges for him over these 2 seasons. $15.4 and $48 mill in 23 and 24 as he hit some incentives in 23 season somehow.

Leaves $22.2 mill in dead money remaining to hit their cap.

Jones has no more fully guaranteed money after this season.

A pre June 1 cut means NYG eats the full $22.2 mill in dead cap in 2025. They can do a post June 1 cut and basically split it evenly at $11.1 mill in 25 and another $11.1 mill in 26.

Edit: Cutting Jones today, locks in the $22.2 mill in dead cap for 2025 season. That's probably why they don't just flat out cut him today. Team is giving themselves the option to spread the cap charges or just incur them all in 2025.

They need to decide what to do with Jones by the 5th day of the new league year in mid March as $12 mill of his 2025 base salary becomes fully guaranteed on that day. If they hold a pick where they can draft a QB, they probably eat the fully $22 mill in 25 since they will have a rookie QB contract, thus can load up in 2026 once the Jones dead money is off their books, while they spend 25 season developing that rookie.

Stuff can be replaced. Main concern is family when player is on the road. May have to hire private security when on road or whenever family doesn’t attend home games.

Had previously been Browns/Bengals

I'm still surprised the TNF flex became possible given how much the NFL tried to balance how many Thursday games a team plays and when they do. You know whoever loses this game is going to blame this flex for why they miss the playoffs.

The Broncos had to approve it since it will be their second TNF game on the road
