I wish that one year they all did that. A mask series of open mouth like Beezer for every team. And yes, I mean every team, no clue what the Leafs and Flyers would do, but it'd be funny.

This is unironically probably the funniest mask i've ever seen. And not in a "laughing with" sort of way. What on earth even happened here?
This one is actually pretty cool. It's a little "busy" for my taste, but it's got such a clean coherent design concept and it's executed so well. It pays so much respect to the curves and contours of the actual mask. It actually looks like a piece of "art". Like a fancy vase or something.

Vasilevsky's is a good example of busy and detailed but with a purpose and actual justifiable aesthetic reasons, rather than Dave's lens flares and mini logos. Good mask.
The longer I look at that monstrosity of Quick's the funnier it gets. Possibly the worst mask ever. Dave may be a bigger stain on the league than jersey ads and lockouts.

Not sure why he'll be bothering with others but an alternative to Dave is always good.

Dave's Avs ones are all the same, but I still don't like this one.
Its made by Massimo Dante, he does a lot of F1 and Kart helmets. This style is something he's known for with sneakers and some of the helmets, so it's less so just some random helmet done that way vs going to someone that is known for that "style" to get one done by him.
He's done some really cool ones for Albon. So I'm curious if he gets him to do a different style for that second mask. Again, anything but Dave is better.
This one though, you gotta remember it's literally posca markers with a matte clear. It's hand drawn. Not made to look hand drawn.
I am enjoying the trend of goalies going back to having dark gear. Stolarz is leading the way!

No he gets justifiable hate. The fact he can make a good mask is what justifies the hate even more.
Yeah I can make a great clean mask but I just will shove every possible painting trick into every mask, and even mundane things like a lens flare gets called a new "DaveArt tech or fx" and it's even more worthy of hate and eye rolls.
He's got the self restraint of a toddler and makes unreadable shitty masks with 80000 mini logos and lens flares on them to make anything he does pull off look muddled and horrible. Especially from a distance which is where the mask is most often seen.
Everybody has their own style and taste. I think Dave is very talented at what he does. He may not be to your taste, but he's not talentless.

I never said he was talentless. He's talented. He just can't help but use all of his talented tricks to his detriment.
It's like overly saturated prose with metaphors, similes, and other literary devices. It's not effective writing.
