What’s up with Farrel? I know there is no hope anymore for him being a potential NhL player but no offensive production in the AHL? I’m a bit surprised how bad the trend is for him..

Vincent likes his effort and is sure points will come. Praised his work ethic.

He would need to be paired with a solid veteran stay at home LD presence to help with the transition, which we just don't have right now. A left shooting Savard would have been ideal to take him under his wing. As it is, he's in a better place to learn in Laval.
An option we could try if there are no trades and we want Mailloux to learnb in the NHL is:
  • Hutson-Savard
  • Matheson-Struble
  • Guhle-Mailloux
  • Barron 7th.
Xhekaj to Laval to dominate and get his swagger back. Not ready to give up on him as a D-man and play him as a 12th F, not yet.

With that 6 man rtotation, don't play anyone more than 22 minutes or less than 16 minutes. Everyone needs to learn on the job.

If we shorten the bench when behind late, play Savard and Struble a bit less.

If shortening with a late lead, play Hutson and Mailloux a bit less.

Getting a few games in Laval would be good for him, but Arber would 100% get claimed before he gets there, outside of some miracle.

The one guy that is glossed over is Adam Engstrom who i believe should not be called up this season. He is averaging 21 minutes of ice time. In 11 games he has been on the ice for only 5 goals against.
His skating is elite and his ability to skate with the puck is impressive. How this kid slipped to #92 is somewhat shocking. Habs may have finally scouted and drafted a solid Swedish prospect. I will ruffle some feathers but I think he is as good or better of a prospect than Mailloux.

I hope they don't rush him, he needs to add more strength and mass, so far so good though.

Haven't watched any games but is Sean Farrell this bad? I had high hopes for him with his NCAA numbers.

the entire offense has struggled outside of Roy and ABB plus Beck and Mailloux, if those guys don't create offense, not many others seem to be able to right now. I said last year he won't make it until he gets quicker, stronger. It looks like he's made some progress on that somewhat but he mostly has done nothing out there. Just has to keep working at it, the points will come as his offense skill and IQ just didn't go away. He was one of the top 2 or 3 players in the NCAA in his last year for a reason but he's small not fast or strong or a great skater and that is going to be tough to overcome for anyone.

But there's no harm in any prospect taking years to get there, before the salary cap era that was common place.
