It's worth a risk to not keep a rookie for a better chance at winning the playoffs. It's a good tradeoff. Without a rookie, you'd basically get a supplementary pick anyways which equates to a 12th round pick or later. Most of the higher end rookies will be gone so the actual gap in advantage may be smaller for a depth player to help you in the playoffs.
I agree with this. Non-playoff teams can load up a bit on rookies before the trade deadline, playoff teams are incentivized not to. It gives the non-playoff teams a bit more bottom end keeper value, and also a trade chip in the off-season to get some of the fringe keepers from the stronger teams. Basically, I think this helps long-term balance.

I mean...depends what the market dictates. Usually quality rookie keepers are worth a mid-round pick or a slightly mid-to-high non-rookie keeper (e.g. someone at 3 years on a stacked team with no franchise room)?

I have no picks and only a few good players--so whatever penalty there is for having only one rookie--I will take that instead of doing a bad trade

It is fine to just have one rookie keeper.
That just means you have to pick one more player with your later round picks.
There is no penalty...
Other than that perhaps you get a worst player.

4. Kane(2)
5. Matthews(F)
6. Connor(3)

Everyone else Available, notable rookies Askarov & Swayman.

the problem I have can be summed up as offers for one of my keepers for a far inferior player or trading a 5th for a 10th and so so rookie

to balance the teams Novak can be dropped as he does not qualify for being a rookie or and would not be a keeper

I'll have to do a more in depth look into keepers and what year they are etc when I get more time, but for now I believe my 7+1 are:

Kaprizov
Zibanejad
Fox
Miller
Svechnikov
Shesterkin
DeBrincat/Huberdeau
Power (R)

That means I have one of DeBrincat/Huberdeau, goalies like Talbot/Korpisalo/Vanecek and anyone else on my roster not listed here available for a rookie keeper and any other keeper upgrades. Hit me up and I'll respond when I get a chance.

edit: went back and found my post from last year so just gonna put this here with the updated years.

1. JT Miller (4) (Franchise)
2. Mika Zibanejad (3)
3. Andrei Svechnikov (3)
4. Kirill Kaprizov (2)
5. Adam Fox (2)
6. Igor Shesterkin (2)
7. Alex DeBrincat (2)
8. Owen Power (R)

Huberdeau would be franchise if kept, all others would be (1)

My keepers won't be decided until the last minute due to injuries and substance use, but:

D. Hamilton (3, Franchise)
Stamkos (1)
Fiala (1)
Point (-)

Skinner (R)

Are my definite keepers.

Then 3 of:

Giroux (-)
Eriksson Ek (-)
Kuzmenko (-)
Buchnevich (1)
Ekblad (2)
Werenski (-)

Then 1 of
Knight, Eklund, Slafkovsky (R)

So no issues whatever I choose.

Any idea on draft dates?
Sunday late afternoons are good for me. Later nights would be Mondays and Wednesdays

I should be okay with any dates this year.

Anyone wants to discuss rather or not the league should have same day waivers?
I will drop it if there are no responses.

Sept 24th 5pm?

I'll be away that whole week from 25th to 30th.

I suspect that's good for me.

Still looking to trade a keeper for rookie if anyone's looking to upgrade with a guy like DeBrincat/Huberdeau. Have had some talks and a couple interesting names out there but still open to more options!
