2024-25 General Dallas Stars Talk

You’re not wrong. At the end of the day, teams who have seen playoff success for a few seasons, and know what it takes, know when to switch it on.
That feeling when you realize PDP is a genius who is playing 4D chess by making Dallas lose most of the final 10 games so that in the statistics Stars will be shown in the "cold" -tier meaning the probability of winning the cup just went up! All hail Peter DeBoer!

Here is the thing, I think we just need to accept that watching the games will be tough. Dallas will not control play, Dallas will not control tempo, Dallas will high flip out a lot, Dallas will look to counter attack and capitalize on mistakes and hopefully have a strong PP.

Maybe we win, maybe we won't but I don't foresee us showing up and controlling games.. we just can't for whatever reason.

If you go in with that mindset and thinking that we will have 2 shots in the first 7 minutes. We will never execute a good pass out of our own zone under pressure, etc. then the games will be chill to watch.

If we don't have Heiskanen back by game 5, we're in bad shape.

Oettinger has gotta get back to his level of play we saw against Calgary a few years ago. At least for a game or two.

And the forwards have no excuse to not pop off a game or two as well. This group should absolutely be capable of scoring 4+ goals at least once or twice in the first 4-5 games of the series. Colorado isn't exactly an elite defensive team.

We have, on paper, the most dominant line in the league and the deepest forward group in the league. They need to do their jobs and pot 3+ goals per game.

If neither of those happen, we were probably screwed anyway. This team should be able to go 2-2 and then hopefully get Heiskanen back, and from there I like our chances.

There will be close games where a single bounce or two determines the outcome. This group has enough experience and talent to know how to swing that in our favor. They've gotta be able to execute that.

I'm not going to doom and gloom before we play a single minute of playoffs hockey. I'm not even going to doom and gloom if we lose game 1, given the recent history of this team. It takes so much energy to be negative, it takes none to be indifferent. We've got a good enough team to win some playoff hockey, and so do other teams that made the playoffs.

Correct.

I'm going to remain optimistic.

All eyes set to Saturday.

I know a long losing streak isn't ideal, but bottom line is Dallas is the 2 seed. After 2 consecutive conf finals appearances.

Will put hope in the flick a switch philosophy.

The Stars playing their first game on the first available playoff date seems like a helping hand to the Avs to take away another day of recovery for Miro.

Yea its frustrating, especially considering the Avs somehow managed to finish their season 3-5 days before anyone else does.
