2024-25 General Dallas Stars Talk

Also I will observe that this game is spilled milk- whats done is done. Either they’ll dig deep and come out the other side stronger or they won’t- but better now than in the playoffs anyway. Let’s see how they respond.
That’s how I’m trying to look at it. Either big time wake up call or this group doesn’t have what it takes.

I haven’t been able to watch many games over the last few weeks but I have got to watch the last THREE. So I’m finding it hard to be optimistic.

I’m so emotional about hockey though, if they get a lead in the playoffs, I’ll think they’re an unstoppable juggernaut of a team.

My feelings at the moment are that I doubt we win a series against the Avs without Miro but that even that is possible.

I feel like getting pissed off and bummed out now achieves nothing other than raising my blood pressure. If they suck in the playoffs I’ll have plenty of time to be mad about that. I don’t see any advantage to acting like we already lost. And here I am only addressing the people who keep repeating how we are definitely going to lose or get swept in round 1 and keep posting bullshit about already waiting for next season or those who show up at some point during 80% of losses to pretend they’re turning the game off. That is what annoys me. Being mad in the moment during a regular season game I get completely. The hyperbole and pretend quitting is what is stupid.

Even if we do lose or even get swept are you going to feel happier because, what, you called it? Wow, what a limb to crawl out on. Or is it going to feel like you lost twice - already now when you quit and then once again when the team actually loses?

A game 6 would be around April 30.

That would be the timeline I think where Miro would be ready (going by when he started skating).

Maybe game 5 depending on dates.

That's how I assess comments and rehab timeliness

An interesting watch in coming days is the Oilers.

They are still knocked down by injury with Nugent Hopkins now not playing tonight added to McDavid and Draisatl and ekholm.

If they lose to St Louis tonight and Calgary win vs Anaheim all of a sudden its only a 4 point gap for the flames to reach 3rd in the pacific, with 4 to play and the Oilers still having tough matches vs Winnipeg and LA on their schedule.

Oilers injuries have them slowing down alot and if they don't get their main 2 guys back could see them lose more and make it a close finish for that 3rd pacific spot. (I guess Wild could still miss so the final WC spot is there yoo, but still they better start winning)

Nek minit, McDavid back, oilers win, flames lose..

The 8 in the West almost set

Not sure what is worse. The below image or PDB saying the Vancouver game was a "good loss".

Duchene leading this team in points (besides Rantanen who doesn't count) is so impressive.

I didn't realize he's still over a PPG. 81 in 78 games. A lot of that not on the top PP unit and while playing with Marchment/whoever wasn't injured for a while there

Remarkably consistent this whole season

Avs are resting Mackinnon for their final 3 games.

After tonight I wonder if Dallas does similar
He's been missing practices for a few weeks now so probably some injury, they don't need him they can't move anywhere at this point

Biggest game of the year and they have no answer. No faith in this team going into the playoffs. Shame such a good season is ending this way.

Looking at the Stars schedule in recent months since Miro went out. Dallas has 1 win vs quality competition - A team that is top 10 in points across the league...the only win was vs LA at home.

(Didn't include the Vegas game where Miro got Injured)

All other wins were against teams 11th or below. With the win vs 11th placed Oilers only coming without McDavid and Draistal not playing

Losses in that time to contending teams
At Colorado
Vs Tampa
At Winnipeg
Vs Winnipeg
At Edmonton (when McDavid+Draisatl missed)
@ LA

Maybe a soft schedule inflated how average the team is without Miro.
