2024-25 General Dallas Stars Talk

Division scenario

Dallas and Winnipeg both with 5 games left, Winnipeg 3 point lead.

Dallas HAS to win the Head to head Thursday (in regulation)

If that happens, Dallas needs to gain 1 more point in 4 remaining Games

Remaining schedules (excluding the Head to Head)

Dallas
Home vs Vancouver and Utah
Road @ Detroit and Nashville

Winnipeg
Home vs St Louis, Edmonton and Anaheim
Road @ Chicago

The most Realistic required scenario is Dallas needs to win out including a Regulation win vs Winnipeg...added to that Winnipeg has to lose another game (maybe vs the Oilers most likely)

It's probably down to around 5%.

It's an awful path if they don't win the division. Colorado first round and if they somehow win that have to beat Winnipeg as the road team and we've seen how easily Winnipeg have handled Dallas in Winnipeg.

All that is predicated on beating Winnipeg, and we just got dummied by the Wild and Pens. Oettinger is gonna have to channel his Flames PO series for us to beat Winnipeg in regulation.

Blues have won 12 straight, so Jets have 2 hard opponents, and depending on which Stars team shows up, it could be 3. Not to mention they haven't exactly been playing stellar the past month.

Still very possible, and very important with Miro out the 1st round.

Where do you get that out of the quote?
How else do you explain drafting Gurianov?
The player they wanted went early and they clearly had to pivot.
If Gurianov at 12 wasn't a panic how else do you explain it? Drugs? Momentary stupidity?
That pick was a failure from the moment it was announced

I just wanted to share the Tweet because I thought it was interesting, lol.

Brother, you create a list, when one is gone you go to the next. If two are close or equal on your list you have a discussion around it. There was no panic or mid-draft adjustment, or whatever you are trying to spin.
I refuse to believe NHL scouts had Gurianov ahead of Barzal.
I will never be convinced any NHL scout legitimately thought that. Unless something comes on when Barzal retires that he told Dallas to get f***ed he would never come here, and even then the same would have to apply to Connor and about 20 other players too.

Do you think they go into the draft with only one player in mind for each pick?
Obviously I know they don't, But again No NHL scout should have a job that put Gurianov ahead of Barzal.

That should be a Bernhardt level offense and be instantly fired

I'm guessing there were as many as eleven players taken that caused them to have to pivot.

Jets get a key win to maintain a strong lead.

Think the scenario only has 1 path now.

Dallas has to win out (with the win vs Jets in regulation)

Jets must lose to Dallas plus 1 more. Most likely game is when they play the Oilers.
