2024-25 General Dallas Stars Talk

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

So it's clear DeBoer has no idea what to do with Rantanen.

Nill can acquire all the talent in the world but it's still being given to these coaches.

Why do they keep f***ing around with Bourque? He is good with Benn and Johnston. Leave it alone. Put Rantanen with Duchene. Granlund with Hintz/Robertson.

Dadonov can go back on the fourth line and Blackwell is trash.

Stop scratching Bourque and playing Blackwell and Back you monkeys.

This coaching staff is going to get us swept in the 1st round
lmfao all U do is cry

Back-Steel-Blackwell looked very engaged last night, what's the logic behind making a switch there?

Not a single defenseman in that lineup who can make an outlet pass. (Yes I know Harley is just getting a rest)

No Miro could be the difference in series 1.
I haven't consulted the spreadsheets and pictograms but my old eyes tell me Biggie Six is 'ok' on outlets. I mean, I don't want him to be 2nd best at it on the blue line. But you are right - they either flip it out (Lindell) or make a panic play up the boards (everyone else).

Oh man now I'm worried they're gonna wear down Harley over the next few weeks by playing him a shit ton and he'll be outta gas when the playoffs start. Hope I'm wrong but damn...

you're right, the coaching staff that's taken this team to the conference finals in b2b years is clueless

I mean, the staff makes constant blunders. They ride their goalie and Heiskanen into the ground constantly, play a defender 4 mins in the playoffs.. and then wonder why the tank is empty come conference finals.

Now they are doing it again with Harley.

yeah you're right- they are the worst and im fed up watching a team that is sitting at 3rd in the league in points. Deboer if you're reading this - please consider consulting more with message board posters

This team is going to be fine. No team plays at a top level the entire season. Even during this "drought", they're still managing to get points.

it's funny how the negative nancy's will talk all the shit in the world about how bad nill is and the moves he makes.
but out of the other side of their mouths talk shit about pdb and the staff bc they don't know how to use this great roster.

can't fathom how miserable it must be to be so damn negative.

to be fair, mrH, you're not as bad as some others, but damn

I think frustration is building from posters because the team has looked disjointed for weeks now when we are hoping adding a top 20 player would make us even better. Coaching staff doesn't seem to have any solutions over the last 3 weeks and even Pete blew up after the game last night so it's not only fans.

Sure, the team is in a good spot in the standings so we should be happy.. but over the last month playing against good teams I think most fans are seeing this team could easily get bounced first round.

Expectations are sky high when you make back to back conference finals that even a stretch of bad play in the regular season is going to be scrutinized.

I'm wondering if Robertson - Hintz - Rantanen is the best use of this new toy. Rantanen is one of the very best goal scorers in the league, and he's being put on a line with a shoot-first LW and a center who isn't exactly known as a setup guy.

These are now the three best goal scorers on the team... all on the same line. It feels like a strange way to use them. Most teams would spread them out.

Not everything on a fan message board is to be taken literal. When I say they are clueless, it's said with extreme exaggeration.

Rants doesn't work with Hintz. Mav plays well with Benn. The Dallas Stars have a great coaching staff and I wish they would reconsider the lines.

Robo-Hintz-Johnston/Granlund
Marchment-Duchene-Rantanen
Benn-Mav-Granlund/Johnson
Steel-Back-Daddy

These are the lines I would like to see next game. I'd start with Johnston on the top line but if the third line struggles you could always flip Wyatt and Granlund. Granlund has shown the ability to hold the puck and might do alright with Hintz.

Should just double down and go full Finn for the first line.

Granlund - Hintz - Rantanen
Robertson - Johnston - Bourque
Marchment - Duchene - Dadonov
Benn - Steel - Back
