Yeah I'm getting extremely unpleasant Neal/Niskanen for Goligoski vibes and I want them to stop right now
I wouldn't worry too much about it.
The only reason you're getting those vibes is a "inside" source, that hasn't been very accurate.
Maybe he did ask for the moon in negotiations, or some obscure bs, which seems unlikely, since Pat Brisson is his agent, and he would handle the major leg work on negotiations and would know what could or couldn't be included.
But i wouldn't put a lot of faith in what has been implied. Maybe they are scared of what he's going to ask for in his next contract from a $ standpoint. Anything that isn't able to be included in the scope of the contract is irrelevant and Nill/Janko would both know that.
Plus they would be able to find that out this summer and respond accordingly.

They should be worried about Hintz current contract because that is quickly on it's way to Benn/Seguin Horseshit territory.

Edit: Also feel like i should say I'm not saying what Dallasman is posting is BS, he's obviously relaying bits of what he hears without burning his source, but that doesn't mean his source is getting 100 correct information that should be taken at face value, considering he knew nothing about the Granlund trade that was talked about for a bit before actually going down, indicates his source is further down the food chain, and is maybe getting 3rd/4th hand information

This.

How is the Hintz contract bad hes hit 30 goals every season of it and is on pace for another 30 goal season this year. Seguin only scored 30+ once during his current contract in 18-19. Consistent 30 Goal scorers are not that common especially ones as sound defensively as Hintz is.

He makes a million less per year than Benn has and they’re expecting him to be a 50 goal 100 point player who takes over every game lol.

Didn't say it was bad, yet, said it's on it's way.
It's been 1 season. We're in season 2 currently.
His production has trending down for the last few years to the point that he's on pace for 55p currently. That's not 8.4m a year production.
2yrs in and he's not even on pace for 60p. with 6yrs left. For a "#1" center, that's a worrying sign.
Yes the 30goal pace, at least makes it more palatable the extra 1m+ in cap savings vs Benn and Seguin obviously is significant too.
But he's a player that excels at rush play and in large part because of his skating and has had several injuries with his legs already, is nearing 30 (where rush players typically fall off because the legs/knee start to fall apart) and already dropping to a sub 60p pace in his 2nd year of that contract.
Then you watch him play this year and see that him floating around or being lackadaisical for large parts of the game/season, it compounds those worries.
Obviously he could rebound next year and it's just a bunch of nothing due to some nagging injury that he's playing through (which might be the case).

He makes a million less per year than Benn has and they’re expecting him to be a 50 goal 100 point player who takes over every game lol.
Nobody is expecting him to be something he's never shown any capacity to be. Don't be ridiculous

The only ridiculous statement that’s been made is equating Hintz’s contract to Benn or Seguin’s. Although not surprising at all coming from you given your track record.

Benn and Seguin have never had a Conn Smythe worthy performance in the playoffs and neither are as good defensively as Roope is.

Care to articulate exactly what you expect out of Hintz that isn’t rooted in pure conjecture?

reading is clearly hard for you, so i'm not going to waste my time

Nice cop out but I think you forget you have 0 credibility here after your Nill tirades. If you’re too lazy to argue your point just say that. No need to pretend like you’re smarter than anyone here when you’ve demonstrated time and time again for that to be false.

Would it? Have they done anything like that before?
I can't think of a single player Nill refused to pay other than maybe two exceptions: Patrick Eaves, who Bill smartly traded before he broke down again (no knock on Eaves -- loved the guy, but his injury list was unreal) and Chris Tanev who wasn't even an option really because of his odd Canadian tax situation.

Nill has extended every top player he's ever wanted to keep.

There are only 35 forwards with AAVs higher than Hintz. If you look at the top 80 paid skaters (8.4M AAV avg hit) the average ppg for this group is 0.90 ppg (he is 58/80). Hintz is under performing his contract by like 20% at 0.72 ppg - would be more like a 6.7M AAV player.

Nobody could have ever saw this coming though
