I question why the people wanting Fowler gone at all costs feel like his return is going to be any different than the forward equivalent of Vaakanainen and a late 4th. A return for him is not improving the team significantly unless he plays enough (and well enough) to see if he can still play.
So we dont have to see Mintyukov, Zellweger, Lacombe or Helleson sit nightly.

Its not even about the return on fowler, we already missed that window. Its about room on the roster, and fit with the roster.

Fowler really doesnt bring anything to the table to make the team better.

Im cool keeping dumo, because at least he kinda fits with the players we have, i dont see that with fowler at all.

I agree, we won’t get much for cam unless we’re retaining a bunch from a cap strapped team

I think a major difference between Fowler and trouba is that Fowler is open to move while Trouba didn't want to.

Who’s next in line? Expect worse returns with the Beeker…

- Fowler (50%) for Ostapchuk, 2nd? Ottawa may be interested with Zub out on LTIR.
-Vatrano (50%), Moore, 5th, 6th for an extended Frederic, 2026 1st? I’d prefer to keep Frankie if he takes a reasonable 3-4 year term. It’s Bawston though… so subtract the 2026 1st…
-Gibson (50%), Mcginn, Lundy, 5th for Richie, Georgiev, Colton, 2nd? Money wise it’s a wash. They need a goalie, we need more grit and faceoff skills. Beeker loves Tampa cup winners.
-Dumoulin, 7th for 3rd? Can’t see us resigning him with our depth on the left side unless we overpay as usual. Maybe we can recoup our pick…

Friedman is reporting on 32 thoughts that Fowler has now asked for a trade.
When in the podcast? I'm listening the Rangers portion now.

edit: nvm I got there.

Ehhhh, he didn't say anything new.

I heard that Anaheim wanted Fowler in this deal, and I would have no doubt Fowler wanted to be in this deal. It's been out there that he wants to be traded, he wants to play for a contender.

mctavish is not a core player. he is expendable and needs to be moved before teams realize he's a career bottom 6 guy who can't play very good defense.
I’m glad someone else is thinking this as well. McTavish doesn’t impress me much and that’s going back to last season as well. A decorated junior career doesn’t make you a great asset in the NHL and I hope Verbeek realizes that before other teams do

Less so.

Detroit as well but the betting money is probably on Gibson remaining a Duck.
Ya... prob no point moving him now....

What blackwood got is prob roughly what wed get for gibson... maybe a higher 2ndary asset

I guess maybe a 1st is available if we retain a bit.

I'm beginning to think Verbeek wants no part of retaining on Gibson and as such the offers have been quite underwhelming. Seemingly he's more than fine keeping Gibby especially when you look at the number of starts he's been getting lately.

I'm not liking the overwhelming number of starts Gibby's had since returning from injury: eight games for Gibby to four games for Dostal, with three back-to-back starts for Gibby. Does our coaches know how not to run down our goalies? We just ran Dostal down at start the season with 11 games for Dostal to two for Reimer.

We’re developing Dostal and Mintyukov by turning them into spectators.

Didnt a rumor or something come out about Beeker not wanting to retain on Gibson? Hes got 2 more years after this, so I understand why he wouldnt want to be on the hook for deadcap long term like that.

Gibson isnt bad, I think hes showed as much this season. His problem has been getting worked to death due to a craptastic blueline and overall defensive team play.

I also think thats why they have been balancing the split the way they have so far this year. Dostal had a heavy workload before Gibson came back. Maybe the idea here is to give Dostal a little reprieve. Get things "back to even" so to speak and then start balancing things out a little more? I guess time will tell on that theory.

Also possible they just still see Gibson as the #1 despite Dostals stellar play to start the season. Which, I wouldnt agree with but still a possibility.

Id be aiming for a 1a/1b split if I were them.

Dostal is worth a lot more, given age and contract. Might be used in a package deal for a young top 6 forward. Never know.

Only way that works is if they feel one of the other goalies in the system is someone they are confident in enough to project as a future #1. I dont see it, but maybe they do. If so, I could see that happening.

Verbeek has drafted a couple goalies. Technically speaking, age wise. Gibson is in his prime years as far as prime goalie years.
