Sure anything is possible. And for sure, if Friedman's post is all manure then there's nothing to be made of it.Youre drawing some big conclusions from some rumors. And even if the rumors are true, youre reading into it with some major confirmation bias.
I could just as easily say that Verbeek required him to up his NT list because Verbeek views Cam as so important that he wasn't willing to dump him for nothing to the 4 teams on his list.
I think it's safe to say anything could be possible and we should be careful drawing conclusions from rumors.
This is my speculation as well, though I will believe it when I see it.Maybe the trade request came up because he lost out on becoming captain and their about to name Gudas captain and Vatrano and Killorn/Strome as alternates.
Fowler as Captain is like putting McLovin from Superbad as captain, he's good at getting hit and not being able to stand up for his teammates when they get hit.

A plausible thought. On the surface it may seem like a step back but it is a non issue a couple years down the line imo. No doubt the latter half of those contracts would have stung and Fowler only has two years left anyways. We certainly have a glut of LHD.Cam may have also been under the impression that we would be bringing in a top 6 forward and a top 4 defender to elevate our team too.
it wouldn’t really surprise me if we were kind of stringing along some of our vets a bit on the premise of being big free agent players which obviously fell through.
Lacombe and Fowler helped us not rush minty and zell last season, if nothing else that’s a big win in itself. I don’t expect much from lacombe going forward with the ducks( as well as Fowler )A plausible thought. Lacombe will be fine, has plenty of potential…. Might not have the upside of luneau zellweger and Mintyukov but I think he’s a great utility/compliment pieceLacombe and Fowler helped us not rush minty and zell last season, if nothing else that’s a big win in itself. I’ll keep saying, I hope I’m dead wrong in lacombe. Would love to eat crow on himLacombe will be fine, has plenty of potential…. Might not have the upside of luneau zellweger and Mintyukov but I think he’s a great utility/compliment piece

Yeah, I think LaCombe will end up being one of the league's best bottom pairing defensemen. He clearly has top-4 potential (possibly even a #3 defenseman), but he will end up being used on the bottom pairing once our cupboard of prospects has matured enough, and that is an enticing thought.
Hopefully he does, I can’t wait to pile on the hateCam definitely has a complex about not being captain.
I mean think about it, from his perspective, he likely has, (on some degree) a sense of entitlement to it.
He was drafted by us and made the team as an 18 year old, was under Captain Scotty’s wing living with him as a rookie, getting blue balled by wearing an “A” (lol) and management kinda having a soft spot for him, with a big contract and not trading him when he should have been around 2015-17.
Time will tell if he ends up the best defensive defenseman, but he did absolutely nothing to prove that last year.Out of our youths, LaCombe is probably our best defensive d-man.

Srsly, i can’t believe I just read that . There is no fing way that lacombe is the best defensive dman of the youngsters.Time will tell if he ends up the best defensive defenseman, but he did absolutely nothing to prove that last year.
LaCombe is 2-3 years older than any of Luneau, Zellweger, and Mintyukov. More should be expected of him and he didn’t fare any better. Also, your graphs prove nothing.I should have added at this moment and near future.
As for last year, it wasn't like he was thrusted into RD1 to shelter Minty, Luneau, and Vaak as well as keep Gudas' minutes down.
Here's how LaCombe, Minty, and Zell finished their last 22, 23 games in the NHL last year. Minty missed the last eight games of the season due to injury, which ensured LaCombe in a top-4 role. And before Minty's injury, LaCombe was his partner for seven games, where Minty had +0 rating during that game set.

We shoulda moved Cam the moment he made that ridiculously soft play in the playoffs vs nashville.Cam should’ve been part of the Manson-Rakell-Lindholm swaps years ago. It’s tough to see him go but the promising defenders give me some hope
Playing for 14 years with the team that drafted him and is the longest tenured player on the team it might hurt to be told ur not gonna be captain and they may reserve alternates for others over him as well such as Vatrano and Killorn/Strome. Gudas C, Vatrano A, Killorn/Strome A.Cam definitely has a complex about not being captain.

Hell, this org is so tight-lipped that Cam could have retired 5 years ago and they've been using a body double and we wouldn't know until 2036.I haven’t read that much into the details but I feel like for an org that is so tight lipped, it’s possible that Cam requested a trade 1-2 years ago and nothing has happened since then. Whether you think he’s in the right or wrong and I know he’s the whipping boy on these boards, for me it’s gonna be sad to see him go. A ducks lifer and the last piece of the getzy mid 2010s era. Thanks for always being a class act Cam
It would explain his play the last few years. I know I know stats said hes fine but that shot would never hit the goalie/net, when he retires the glass around the league is going to exhale with reliefHell, this org is so tight-lipped that Cam could have retired 5 years ago and they've been using a body double and we wouldn't know until 2036.
