2024-25 ECHL Season Thread

It snows in Wichita, too, 12.7 inches on average per annum and in winter when snow is SUPPOSED TO fall. Further, it's bad karma for hockey fans to disparage the "beauty" of another hockey town, especially when your team is owned by a washed up former NFL quarterback & a pair of aging Fixer Upper TV show hosts. :sarcasm:
LOL! 13" per year...
Turns out our forecasters were a little off... I've got 11" on my driveway this morning so far. It's gorgeous and the skiing is fantastic!

You're right, I shouldn't have ragged on Wichita, it's a neat big/little cow town. Just not much to look at.
But on the plus side it's not a complete dump like St Louis. When are y'all planning to burn down another suburb next? Made for some great livestreams! :naughty:

As far as ownership goes, as long as they pour money into the organization and hire a great GM and coach to make the important decisions who cares how they made their cheddar. "Washed up former NFL quarterback" and "aging TV show hosts" looks a helluva lot better on the resume than anything most of us can list... and we sure as hell aren't dropping the coin needed to spread hockey into new communities either. As long as their last name isn't Pegula I'm thrilled.

I'm confident the Knight Monsters can beat Tulsa handily, and a series against Kansas City will be very close and physical. I think we can beat them in six.
Playing and practicing at 6300' is a serious advantage against flatlanders, and all that extra O2 at nearly sea level is a rush.

Good luck to your Blues against Winnipeg... I'm hoping you guys make it a close series! :DD

Just remember: Your hometown is just one disputed slots jackpot payout away from a full-blown casino riot. 🎰 🔥 😱

We have the wrong demographic for a "mostly peaceful" riot.
Our geriatrics just off the bus from the bay area, and sitting nearly comatose in front of a one armed bandit, wouldn't notice a riot... and their recent hip replacement surgeries don't allow them the kind of mobility you need in a fluid riot environment. :wally::laugh:

Now all the bachelorette parties could do some damage if they teamed up together but that's not likely given their natural distrust and competitiveness with each other. And all you would have to do to shut down the fervor is yell "free shots at the center bar" and any thought of rioting would be quickly drowned in Jagermeister and cheap tequila. :partytime:

Two fantastic home playoff wins for the Tahoe Knight Monsters and they are thru to the second round with a sweep of the Wichita Thunder!

The community has really embraced the team and fans are turning out with another sellout tonight. It's a raucous group with a fun vibe.
Everyone in our section has already renewed their season tickets for next season and we've got other friends trying to get into any open seats near us.

We're even seeing some opposing team fans showing up from the Midwest and mountain states.
Tahoe is a pretty cool place to visit in its own right with four large casinos just a two minute walk from the arena. Both the beach and the Heavenly gondola are only a five minute walk away so it's a great place to catch a two or three game series over a long weekend after hitting the beach or the slopes earlier in the day.

Looking forward to the next round against either Tulsa or Kansas. The Knight Monsters have fantastic goaltending, solid D, and some outstanding forwards who can light up any team in the league. It's been an incredible inaugural season so far!

P.S. It was snowing big, beautiful flakes as we left the arena tonight and we're expecting 1-3" at lake level tonight.
I feel really bad that the Wichita Thunder players not only got swept out of the playoffs tonight but will also have to leave one of the most beautiful places on earth tomorrow to return to... Wichita. :D

Shh, you'll have all them flatlanders wanting to come up here for a visit.....;)

Let's go Tahoe!

Let’s go Norfolk!
Not the result I wanted, but all in all, I was pleased with the Nailers and the season. The problem with minor league hockey is that injuries at the higher levels will effect the end results. Good luck in the next round. I will still be around, but work is getting chaotic right now. I have several projects to finish by the end of the summer.
