What are the chances that Galimov ever plays a game for the Ducks?

If he can get a similar contract in the KHL and is already comfortable living and playing there, I don't really see why he would want to risk coming to a dumpster fire like Anaheim when he's finally having some success.

There's no way he comes here on an AHL contract.

I think the only way he signs with us is if it's on a one-way deal with some internal agreement for an out clause if they send him to the AHL. I hope we can convince him to sign if we guarantee games after the trade deadline, similar to college signings. Mind as well see what he can do. Only concern is that his Russian team can definitely compensate him more...

They can’t for his first year. It’s an ELC deal, and they’re 2-way deals by CBA. However, he’s old enough at 25 to where his ELC is on,y 1 year, so as long as he signs and plays a game before the end of the season he can get a 1-way contract for next year.

Lucas Pettersson is playing very well, often logging over 20 minutes per game as a top-line centre in HockeyAllsvenskan. Given his current form, he probably should have been on Sweden’s World Junior Championship roster last month. Despite playing for a struggling team at the bottom of the standings, he is still producing points.

Lucas is a fast-skating centre who contributes in all three zones. He looks much stronger this season and possesses intriguing physical skills, such as using reverse hits effectively and maintaining strong puck protection along the boards. He wins puck battles with inside-driven stick checking. Offensively, he reads space well, knowing where to place the puck and when to slow down a play. He is always intense and covers a lot of ice. He isn’t an elite offensive talent but is a competent playmaker who can carry and protect the puck at high speed. His speedy two-way game suggests he has a future as a third-line NHL centre.

I wouldn't read into his attitude. Just watch any video of the prospects that Mintyukov is in.

Our prospects are the future of the team. They should be regularly checking in with ALL OF THEM to see how they are developing and provide some feedback on what they need to do. We are in a highly competitive multi billion dollar industry with a singular goal to win a cup. We should be doing everything possible to achieve that goal.

Don't we have a scout for Russia or was that scout for all of Europe?

Drafted in 2020 draft, which is when COVID started and the world shutdown travel. In 2021, Murray resigned in early Nov and that nothing essentially happened between Nov and Feb, when Verbeek was hired. We drafted Buteyets in the 2022 draft; shouldn't we have had some contact with Galimov or were the borders shutdown for Russia before the 2022 draft? Things have relaxed enough to where we were able to sign Buteyets during this past summer. It does feel very weird to finally touch base with Galimov only after his game started to take off.

Risk vs reward and cost-benefit. I'm sure it's expensive to have staff over there and if you're a team like Anaheim, there's a significant risk the player won't come anyway.

But mostly I think Bob Murray just wasn't interested in Russians. Verbeek does not seem to share that bias.
