Even with the season he’s having? Or is the part that shocks you that Galimov is apparently interested in coming over?
Both, I guess? He struck me as a player who would probably be a pretty good AHL guy, and that wouldn't be enough to entice him to come over.

I'll still be very surprised if he is able to play NHL games, but interesting nonetheless. I do wonder if NHL guaranteed games is part of the negotiation.

A brief stat browse doesn't have me very impressed, do you know more about this prospect?
I do not watch him play, so I don't have any sort of scouting report. My surprise is geopolitical and financial.

Ducks will likely be signing prospect Artyom Galimov
Nice, seems like he’s having a strong KHL season.

Has a lot of skill, I’m excited by this

Eh he’s kinda killing it this year in KHL, top 10 In league.

Has a ton of skill…. Idk that he’s a PV player but he does have talent.

Based off how he plays, I could see Galimov taking Fabbri’s spot once he’s gone. There are still 20+ games left in the KHL regular season, so I have no idea if they can bring him over now or if they have to wait until Galimov’s season is over.
His contract would have to be bought out to come over immediately.

Is he any good?
It would be very surprising if he became an NHL regular. He's slight and has had major consistency issues.

But, he has obvious skill and has put together a really strong season, so maybe he is putting it all together. Certainly worth a swing considering our lack of forward skill.

You literally just said: “I do not watch him play, so I don't have any sort of scouting report.”

Was that a scouting report? They said he’s slight, which is true, has consistency issues, which is apparent just looking at his stats, and that “maybe” he’s putting it together based off his production this season.

This is based on scouting reports of people who do watch him. There are those in his draft thread on the prospects board if you would like to read for yourself. Not much of a reach anyhow.

🔥 En Fuego Club 🔥
  • Massé
  • Sennecke

🌠 Honor Roll Club 🌠
  • Procyszyn

Sennecke and Procyszyn are close to being 30-goal scorers. Sennecke is ranked 6th in goal scoring in the OHL and Procyszyn is ranked 11th (tied) in the OHL.

Notes
  • Owen Sound traded their center, Konnor Smith, to Brampton.
  • Blais is tied at 16th for scoring in the QMJHL.
  • Sennecke is 6th overall for scoring in the OHL.
  • Tarin Smith is tied for 3rd in +/- ratings in the WHL with a +36 rating. Although, the top-7 +/- ratings leaders in the WHL all come from Tarin's team, from +48 to +32.

Ya, pretty much this.

If he does become something that would be cool tho…. Would prob go a long way with our Russian drafting too.

Galimov is a free asset who will sign a one-year contract (if I remember the CBA rules correctly). Zero risk.

📌 Honorable Mention 📌
  • Burnevik

Moving away from the NCAA

The highest drafted player in the bunch is Moore, 3rd round of the 2020 draft. Callow was drafted in the 5th round of the 2022 draft. The rest are 6th rounders: Francis in 2019, Kukkonen in 2021, and Burnevik in 2024.

The last time the Ducks drafted more than one college bound player was in 2021: Rd 3 in Pastujov (changed his mind after the draft to go to the CHL), Rd 4 C Lopina, and Rd 6 Kukkonen. That was under the previous GM Murray.

College bound defensemen seem to find a niche in the pros. LaCombe (rd 2), Helleson (rd 2), and Thrun (rd 4), from the 2019 draft, have made their way to the pros due to their defense being developed at the NCAA level. While Moore isn't putting up great numbers at Harvard, Moore could still be a find because Harvard has been going through a rebuild of sorts for the past two seasons. Moore has speed as a natural RD, who stands at 6'3.

  • Galimov

🌠 Honor Roll Club 🌠
  • Pettersson

Galimov is 2nd in team scoring, 8th (tied) in KHL scoring, and 15th (tied, played more than 25 games) in ppg rate in the KHL. There have been reporting (there is a tweet already on the boards) that the Ducks are in on signing Galimov to secure him for next season play.

Notes

LD Uljanskis is 3rd in team scoring, 60th (tied) overall in J20 scoring, and 5th best d-man scorer in J20. He is listed at 6'2 and 194 lbs by EP. Could be another stash and develop d-man from the Ducks' org. The Ducks own his rights until Jun 1, 2028, according to capwages. There is plenty of time for Uljanskis to potentially become a gem.

Clara has put up better numbers in the past two games. He has been inconsistent this season with great highs and bottomless lows throughout the season. It is his first season in the SHL.
