I hope he makes it but not as a 4th liner. He’s an offensive dynamo, it would be ridiculous to add this player and then play him in a grinder’s role.

The reason Sennecke wasn't part of the WJC squad initially was because all the top-6 slots were taken and the coaches didn't want to play him as a 4th liner. That reasoning was shared when Sennecke (and Ignila) were snubs.

TBF, when someone shared a Scouching scouting video of Sennecke this year, Sennecke's off the puck and defensive game didn't possess the same vigor like his offense. It's probable that when Sennecke was informed of the reasons why he wasn't invited that he took steps to improve in all those criticisms in all of his ensuing games where he went off the charts. Thank goodness Sennecke rose to the occasion than to shrivel up.

It kinda reminds me of when Eakins benched Z in the 2nd period for lack of effort playing defense and then in the third Z scores a goal that was initiated with him playing defense. Z scowled at Eakins after scoring it, but Eakins told the press after the game that he got the correct response from Z.

Let's hope Sennecke can keep this high level play all around as his new norm. Z didn't think his defense was that bad until two other coaches kept calling him out on it with Cronin (year 1) and the team USA WC coach, who did bench Z at the WC.

Was the scouching video a single game review or multiple? Because they have not been very high on Sennecke at all, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they found a rough defensive game of his to display as an “I told you so.” Granted I don’t watch any full games of his to know how common of a theme that is, so hopefully he makes the WJC roster so we can all get a look.

EliteProspects draft report praised his forechecking, especially when the games started to matter. FWIW

it was a full, single game review. Scouching did posit that Sennecke didn't look bad, but didn't pop off either and that Sennecke might still be growing into his body.

I do know that Sennecke's scoring rate at a two-week interval has been dropping after resurging at the start of the season.

Oct 28th: 2.00 ppg
Nov 10th: 1.80 ppg
Nov 25th: 1.17 ppg
--- News broke he wasn't on the WJC team ---
Dec 11th: 2.80 ppg

Doesn't sound like much is going on in the game this morning, which doesn't bode well for sennecke (I would think). We will see later today.

Beckett Sennecke, LW (Anaheim Ducks): Sennecke was excellent in the first game and was quieter in the second. He always had a tough road ahead, given he was a late addition – that, and there was plenty of competition to fill one of the final scoring roles. This was the most surprising cut in my opinion because I thought he played quite well. Plus, he’s a hot hand.
