Derek Lee asked Cronin about Gudas play wavering from last year. Cronin's response was "I don't think his performance has wavered." Anyone with a brain can see it has. Maybe he is lying to protect his captain?
This guy is out to lunch. The lineup decisions. The scheme. He doesn't have any answers to questions. He seems like kind of a dick. The emphasis on defense and the team still sucking on defense while relying on goalkeeping. His "motivational" video sessions. Z and his I hate playing wing comment on live TV. Killorn saying no one knows where other players on the ice are. Boosh and his comments. There is a lot of smoke about his guy not being a good coach that there has to be some fire IMO.
PV is going to trade Zegras or Zegras will demand a trade before PV cans this buffoon. Ducks are not a legitimate franchise with this moron and staff behind the bench.
Cronin playing Strome over Zegras on the 5-on-3 is crazy and one more piece of evidence that he should be canned.
Cronin answering a reporter's question so as not to throw a player under the bus is what a coach is supposed to do. Unless there's an effort issue with Gudas (and I would be shocked if that's the case), a coach should never publicly criticize his player in the media. There's no good that can come of that. And coaches can use semantics to justify this stuff so it's not really lying. If you define Gudas' performance as his compete and effort level, then it's not a lie.
What do you expect him to say? "Radko is older and slower this year so he's struggling at times." That will go over like a lead balloon in the locker room and doesn't really tell us anything we don't already know.
