It was just speculation that Cronin could be on the hot seat (just his opinion, not based on anything he's heard). He said that the Ducks have too much talent to be as lifeless as they have been lately. He suggests that maybe Cronin's demeanor just doesn't mesh well with the players that we have.

I would like Cronin and Verbeek gone yesterday. They are both badly failed hires. The sooner the Ducks get rid of them, the better. This team is impossible to watch.

I’ve been in this boat since last year. I had a feeling that a first time coach with no experience would lead to this

That’s probably true but I think Randy would still do better with this squad. He was a smart coach, and I think he’d find some ways to have a bit more success with this team even if there would still be better options out there. I mean the 2016-2017 team was quite a bit different than the cup team and he found ways to make it work. I think his inflexibility as a coach is overblown. Obviously this isn’t his preferred roster makeup tho.

I think it’s just important to appreciate nuance, yes somebody like Randy would probably not be ideal, but he’d likely still have more success than Cronin.

Randy Carlyle was an above avg nhl coach I have no doubt about that. His problem was that he was to tough on everyone

At the risk of repeating myself, that's exactly the issue I've been harping on...that Cronin was hired because he will do exactly what PV tells him to do. PV wants to have a hand in everybody's job instead of hiring the best people and letting them do what they were hired to do.

After the Vegas game, where Leo played some PK…. I vividly remember Cronin saying in one of his interviews directly after the game. Verbeek said to use Leo on the PK, which to me screams GMPV has a lot of say in the way we utilize the roster. Now to play devils advocate, if it was merely, hey Cronin let’s not put to much on Leo’s plate no PK time this season “blah blah blah”, you know I can buy that. But it definitely sounded like a Cronin didn’t have final say in roster decisions.

But it definitely sounded like a Cronin didn’t have final say in roster decisions.

The coach and GM speak almost daily about many things and I wouldn't read too much into it. On the other hand, Verbeek specifically stated multiple times this summer that he had a more hands-off role last year and wanted to be more involved this year with the coaches. Whether this is an example of that or just Cronin mentioning a conversation where they arrived at an idea to get, I don't think that's really the issue with this team.

I think Cronin would have been excellent as an assistant coach in charge of the defense and PK. He would have helped with development and accountability. It's seems like he's struggling with the head role at this level and can't adapt enough for the team he has been given. It's always possible this changes, but adaptability is usually not the hallmark of an older coach.

Too often, it looks as if the Ducks aren’t on the same page on their shifts. Players don’t always anticipate or read where the play is going. Passes have connected better of late, but clean zone entries and proper teammate support aren’t to the point that they’re driving play shift after shift. And while Terry leads Anaheim with five goals and 10 points, he and others have been guilty of turning pucks over when handling the puck too long.

“When I watch (Sidney) Crosby, they know where each other (is),” Terry said. “If one guy gets closed off, he knows where his outs are. It’s that connected (feeling). I don’t know, we’re kind of not connected sometimes. When I have the puck and I know I’m in trouble, I don’t necessarily know where the other two (forwards) are. It’s just that kind of thing that we’ve done at times this year. That’s when we’ve played well. The offensive zone in general, we’re definitely not generating enough.”

“The teams that I’ve played on that were connected as five were very predictable,” Killorn said. “Predictable in the breakout where we knew where the puck was going to go once the (defenseman) touched it.
