Seems like Leevi had his first bad game in a while. I would still say give him the call.

Edit looks like they called up Leevi. That’s the benefit of having a fresh pair of eyes in the org they can see past draft position and aren’t pulling for one guy over another

I love those uni's!

Respect for acknowledgement of the Bulls.

I have liked Halliday since he was drafted and he has been a dark horse, breakout candidate for a while. He needs a few more big games to keep creeping to PPG, but his style can translate to the big league.

His vision and touch are above average IMO.
He has to keep pushing it... upping his pace a little and lead .. it would be oh so nice to have a diamond in the rough that has enough talent

He is Batherson light with those soft hands and touches. If he can develop into a guy we can put in the 3rd line to produce 35-45 points a season then its a massive success.

If he can improve his foot speed and up his pace, he'll make it. Imo he glides too much for today's NHL

I’m not even talking about hitting but getting involved/winning board battles.
Yep. He will need to be more involved on the forecheck and cycling, etc...

Sounds like the coaching staff has identified that as well. I recall hearing them mention he needs to use his size as the advantage it is and just be in the mix more.

oster Notes:

There has been a flurry of transactions since the Senators faced Rochester at home last Saturday. Since then, Forward Cole Reinhardt, and goaltender Leevi Merilainen were both called up to NHL Ottawa, while defender Djibril Toure was returned to ECHL Orlando. Belleville hasn’t made any corresponding roster moves or call-ups, but Head Coach Dave Bell said this week that both Jan Jenik and Hayden Hodgson are available to see action this weekend. Jamieson Rees remains on the club’s injured list heading into the weekend. Click here for a full list of up-to-date transactions. Full lineup details will be available via the B-Sens social channels (@bellevillesens) before the game.

Who to Watch:

Despite Belleville’s struggles last week, one player continues to be a picture of consistency, as forward Stephen Halliday extended his points streak to eight games (three goals, seven assists). Seen primarily as a passer, the former Ohio State University Buckeye is finding a penchant for shooting as well and is developing into an offensive double-threat. Meanwhile, defenceman Max Guenette played in his 200th career AHL games last weekend and, the Quebec-native could become the first Belleville player to reach the 100 point plateau if he notches one tonight.

For the Rocket, rookie forward (and former Quinte Red Devils product) Owen Beck leads the team in scoring with 20 points (seven goals, 13 assists) in 26 games of his first full American Hockey League season. But, it was another fellow rookie stealing the show in Laval’s win at Bridgeport last weekend. Forward Florian Xhekaj (younger brother of Montreal defender Arber Xhekaj) had five points last Sunday, scoring a hat-trick, adding a pair of helpers, and four shots on goal.

Follow the Action:

Puck drop tonight is set for 7:00 p.m. ET from Place Bell in Laval, QC. Broadcast coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. ET with David Foot and can be seen on AHLTV on FloHockey, or heard free on the Belleville Sens Entertainment Network.

Roster Notes:

There were no transactions announced by either AHL or NHL Senators overnight, with forwards Cole Reinhardt and Zack Ostapchuk, and goaltender Leevi Merilainen remaining with Ottawa. Forwards Jan Jenik and Hayden Hodgson returned to the Belleville lineup in Laval last night and added more scoring depth, physicality and energy to the group. Jamieson Rees remains the only Senator injured. Click here for a full list of up-to-date transactions. Full lineup details will be available via the B-Sens social channels (@bellevillesens) before the game.

Who to Watch:

First-year Senator Jan Jenik returned to the Belleville lineup in Laval last night and made an impact, after missing 16 games due to an injury in October. The 24-year-old from Czechia had a goal in his last game before the break and notched an assist, with three shots on goal yesterday. Longtime Senator Max Guenette did become the first Belleville defenceman to reach the 100 points plateau with his goal last night, hitting the mark in his 201st AHL game.

For Springfield, Swedish winger Marcus Sylvegard has points in three consecutive games (one goal, three assists), including an assist in their loss at Charlotte this past Wednesday. Signed as a free agent by the St. Louis Blues in the spring, the 25-year-old is playing his first pro season in North America after racking up more than 300 games in the Swedish top league. Meanwhile, rookie Dailbor Dvorksy, who is set to represent Slovakia at the upcoming IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship in Ottawa, had a goal and three shots on Wednesday and had an eight-game point streak snapped in the game prior to that.

At the Rink:

Tonight is the Belleville Sens Holiday Celebration Game presented by McDowell’s Independent Grocer. Fans can celebrate the season with friends and family at CAA Arena, with holiday music, arena theming, intermission activations, and even in-seat visits from Santa himself!
