I'm just shocked at how good Puljujarvi looks. I know he has shown this before in the NHL, he was a really good player for the Oilers that just had issues finishing. But he looks downright dominant with the puck and his skating is up another entire level. He's what I'd call a "possession monster", he's strong enough and skates well enough that he can just hold onto the puck and dictate play.

I don't think he has the hockey IQ to be an effective winger for Crosby but he's the exact kind of play driver you want on your 3rd line. Really happy with how he and McGroarty look as a combo.
I don't think I had "Jesse Puljujarvi breaks out as a 26yo on the Penguins" on my NHL 24-25 bingo card.

I'm hoping that between him and Glass, it softens the blow of Poulin.

Missed this game but it's so nice of Columbus to barely ice an ECHL/AHL caliber squad so Sullivan's ego could be inflated that much more for his lover boy Acciari.

I am getting the sense that Puustinen is definitely getting f***ed over for this roster with the next cuts coming.

A shame really, to have Puustinen and Puljujarvi as the RW after Rust and Rakell would be awesome.
No but Ryan Graves + Tristan Jarry for Jeremy Swayman…who says no…
Before anyone entertains this....whatever we want to call it.

I need to ask, are you drunk or high or on any substances?

Based on the pre-season performances, Puustinen shouldn't be one of their RWs anyway :dunno:

I definitely don't want him waived, but he hasn't been better than Puljujarvi or Acciari and Rust and Rakell are obviously better.

Puustinen has produced more than Beau has with tons of time in the top six.

Even if that were true (which it isn't and a simple look at hockey reference would show it's bullshit), that is completely irrelevant from the point.

Puustinen has been an absolute ghost in the pre-season that's getting outperformed by AHLers like Koivunen and Broz. It's hilarious that people here preach about accountability and letting the best players play, but then whine that a guy who has stunk in pre-season isn't being gifted a spot.

Puustinen has no business being a regular for this team because his performance has simply not been "regular player" worthy. He has simply not been one of their 12 best forwards in camp and pre-season. He has been completely outplayed by McGroarty and Puljujarvi and even Acciari has shown more than Puustinen has. I don't want him waived because of the talent he has shown in the past (and I'm concerned he'd be claimed), but you'd be a fool to argue that his performance deserves him being a regular. He is objectively not performing to a level that warrants him being a regular.

Puusy has a goal and an assist in the pre-season.

Beauvillier has an assist.

One of them has basically played every shift with Sid or Geno..

Can we get a game or two of evaluation before we go full negative? This is supposed to be the exciting part. The delusions of grandeur part. You're already negative without watching the game.

One of them has basically played every shift with Sid or Geno..

Shots on goal: 11 in 3 games for Beauvillier, 3 in 3 games for Puustinen
iHDCF: 7 for Beauvillier, 1 for Puustinen
xGF: 70.41% for Beauvillier, 22.26% for Puustinen

I don't know if you just haven't been watching the pre-season or what, but Puustinen has been a downright nightmare in the pre-season. Even if you want to try to deflect by saying "what about Beauvillier!?!?!?!", it doesn't chance the fact that Puustinen looks awful out there.

Like I said, I don't want him waived because I'm concerned with him getting claimed, but he has objectively not performed like a guy who deserves a spot on this team. The eye test says he's getting outplayed by guys like Koivunen and Broz and the stats say he has been awful.

I'll say this, we're deeper than last year. I suspect the quality of the depth will be better as well. That said when your best players are that old, you're not gonna make the playoffs.

TBTH If that 3rd line stays together, I'm more intrigued by that line than the top two.

Knowing this team. I’ll take the guy who actually put a puck in the net versus the guy who “has shots and won the xGF battle.”

Okay Noel Acciari should be their 1st line RW then since he has 4 goals in the pre-season.

Nope. But Noel Acciari should be on the roster over Beauvillier.

Beau is on his 5th team in just under 2 years.

He’s nothing. We gave him a shot in camp with Sid for 80% of his shifts and he blew it. No goals. He should be waived tomorrow. He was out played by everyone but Poulin battling for the NHL roster.

Okay then waive Beauvillier. Even without him in the picture, Puustinen doesn't deserve a regular roster spot because he's been awful.

With Rust and Lizotte down.. our roster should be..

DOC - Sid - Rakell
Bunting - Geno - Puustinen
McG - Eller - Pulju
Hayes - Glass - Acciari
Rust / Lizotte

Easy as pie if we are rewarding the players based on camp and not contracts / NHL experience.

Kinda weird McGoat didn’t get any PP time, I hope that shithead Sullivan isn’t trying to turn him into one of his beloved PK specialists.

Graves is f***ing horrible, holy f***.
