Rumor: 2024-2025 Trade Rumors and Free Agency Talk | The Slow Crawl to the Season

I keep thinking about this.

On one hand, I think we’re ridiculous to think they’d even consider trading Mittelstadt given Colorado’s history. They never panic. They wait things out. They wait for guys to find their game. Think how many of us wanted Kadri gone. Think how many times Girard has escaped trade rumors.

But then on the other hand, does Bednar just say to management “whatever about this slump, this guy is never going to play with pace and he’s never going to be my type of player”. And if he does, how much weight does that hold?

I think they will wait it out and hope he comes out of it but at the same time probably make a move (hopefully early) to cover their bases in the process.

For me, the team we had last night is our team and I think that's the way Avs management needs to go about it. They can't bank that these players who are often-injured or "not available" will magically be there for the playoffs. Obviously, I'm talking specifically about Drouin, Nuke and Landeskog.

So I hope that the Avs make the Islanders a sweet offer for Brock Nelson at 50% retained. That's going to go a long way towards shoring up that Top-6 since he can play C or LW just as well. That way, you can put Mitts in that #3C spot with less pressure with the mindset that he can play a 2-way or even a more defensive/shutdown game.

With Nelson, it would give us a bunch of different options and IF we'd have two or Nuke, Landy or Drouin available for the playoffs, we'd probably be the deepest team in the league.

Getting Nelson would be fantastic not only for the Avs but it takes him away as an option for the jets and wild who most assuredly are also interested. Get the jump on everyone and get that move done early.

This is false, though.

Kadri waited for the Avs to trade EJ to Anaheim. EJ flip flopped on waiving his no trade clause for two weeks. He literally had the moving company booked at one point.

I posted that an Avs player had his bags packed ready to be traded a day or two before free agency opened. Finally, he decided to stay and Kadri went elsewhere. He was going to sign with Colorado for less than he signed with Calgary.

If anything, be upset that the Avs prioritized extending Manson before Kadri.
That doesn't make much sense to me, as you even agreed. If they had a deal with Kadri ready to go that both sides agreed with, there's just no way they suddenly sign Manson. I don't doubt what you've heard, it's even been reported that Avs were looking to move EJ. Much more likely that in the end Kadri chose the Flames and let the Avs know, and at that point we extended Manson. Or alternatively we gave until the UFA period for Kadri to sign, and he didn't, so on UFA day we extended Manson.

Colton is bad too though...and Mitts KNOWS he's bad so it's not like he's going to learn a lesson if you sit him.

He needs someone to help him and I honestly don't think Bednar is that guy. Like I said in the previous post, telling Mitts to work harder isn't gonna lead anywhere. Speed and hard work is not part his game.
Decision to sign him to only a three-year contract looking better in hindsight if he can't figure it out

I’m telling you what I know to have happened and I’m not the only person who knew this. @henchman21 knew the same thing.

Manson had only been with the team since the trade deadline and was a bigger risk of leaving over Kadri. They wanted to get that done and not give him a chance to leave. Kadri was more loyal and was waiting for the Avs to clear out EJ’s $6m.

It’s fine if you don’t want to believe this, but it’s the truth.

I can believe that. It's really on EJ for being flippant about it if that's how it went down.

And they really should have leaned harder into forcing an EJ trade or just plain bought him out. I love Condor but the writing was on the wall, he was barely hanging on at that point in his career and they needed the cap room.

Ah well, moot point now.

Any time Kadri gets brought up...

If Marchand is available at the TDL, I want us to get that troll. He’s got his connections with Nate, but also I just want an absolute asshole/troll on the Avs, preferable one that can play

15:15 of the new 32 thoughts, Friedman mentions that the avs could have traded for Tage Thompson when he was struggling in Buffalo.

Friedman previously mentioned Thompson was offered to a team for a 5th rounder.

The previous mention was episode ago.

Who knows if he would've even panned out here. Not exactly good defensively and he might've been buried on the bottom 6 by Bednar anyways.

Who is he? Legit never heard of the guy
Started out great guns, even spent a good deal of time as their 2C with Pinto in jail and Norris in the infirmary. Since then has settled down, he's the guy who got the hockey world all bent outta shape because he dared to take a slap shot at an empty net. :shakehead Good little antagonist, I'd love to have him on the roster.
