Looking at the D man options. @RoyIsALegend or anyone else, can you sell me on Marcus Petterson? I haven't watched him closely enough out east, and wasn't able to catch the Pens game the other day.
The Avs need their D man acquisition to help them defensively and on the PK. They don't have a strong need for offensive support. How is Petterson defensively compared to say Manson?
Was him getting walked by Val an anomaly for him, or a bit of a known pattern?
Is he better, worse, or about the same defensively as Oleksiak, who I also haven't followed too closely recently?
Is Petterson solid defensively, or more of a 25-30 point defenseman, that's average defensively, and more of an offensive guy, than a two way, or defensive guy?
Like Oleksiak, Petterson leads his team in PK time, so that's a good thing. On a 9th ranked PK compared to 19th in Seattle too.
I see he's not overly physical though, despite his height, and he's a bit lanky at 6'5" 174 lbs. Also see he was the NHL's most hit player himself at one point, which is somewhat concerning given the Avs injury history.
He needs to be healthy enough to play in the playoffs, especially with Manson so injury prone, as the only other big body.
