The Sharks lean a ton on Ferraro to take on stiff competition and kill penalties. He's also 26 so not of the age where he'll be too old for them when they start competing unless the rebuild takes 10 years.

Keep it simple and stick with Blackwood.
While this logically makes sense, I do also agree that I'd love to have Ferraro.

Personally, I don't have to go back and see any of it... I remember my assessment after the playoffs and that was :

Except for Game #1 vs the Jets, George played well in the playoffs for the most part and wasn't the reason we lost in Round #2.

At the same time, he wasn't the reason we won any games that we should have lost had he not played 'out of his mind' and my personal opinion is that sometimes, you need that from your starter.

That's fair. Though he made quite a few great saves, specifically off breakaways and odd man rushes to bail out his team, and I'm pretty sure at least some of them were in wins.

That should count for something. Again just talking playoffs, his regular season there was plenty to criticize. I've always felt it's a focus issue for him, and maybe that's why he didn't have that problem in the playoffs.

The Game 6 elimination game could have been argued a goalie win too, if the Avs could have scored more than 1 goal. Only gave up 1 during regulation and the shots were 38-30 for the Stars.

I can't believe that a top-5 insider in the sport doesn't understand the difference between a one-way and a two-way contract, and waiver rules
He's going to the f***ing waivers because of the games played. One way means he is now getting NHL money even if playing in the AHL.

Or worse, he's doing it on purpose to troll fans

Gibson starting for Anaheim again tonight against Buffalo.

He’s 3-0-0 with a .906 save percentage so far.
He also has a 6.4 cap hit for 2 more years after this

f*** THAT

unless, Anaheim would suddenly be willing to do Gibson at 50% retained for Georgiev. That's the only reasonable Gibson trade out there.

Actually, even that's unreasonable, because a good chance Gibson bombs out like Georgiev and we're on the hook for one more year.

STOP f***ING TALKING ABOUT GIBSON

I'd take that level of goaltending for 3.2M through the rest of our window.

He'd only be more motivated, and likely face less difficult games overall.

What is that level of goaltending?

Also, don't ignore my question of how are you making this trade of Gibosn at 50% retained for Georgiev.

.900+ goaltending

I don't give two shits about the trade details. Not really my thing to go after on here.
Yeah, .900 has been about average this year. Anything above is good. 3 games is a small sample size, and save % is a little too simplistic, but Gibson has been pretty good so far.
Yeah, and
I would 100% trade Ritchie AND a 1st if it meant solving our goalie problems. Not that goalies usually fetch that much anyway.

Gibson is not a guaranteed solution. He is a GIANT risk though. I want nothing to do with that contract. Even at 50% it's a risk.
The thing is, Gibson is not an answer. He might be one, but he ain't one.

Yeah, and

He would fit right into the salary structure at 50%, and has some potential for upside. The question really is only the cost if he keeps playing well as the season goes along.

I'm not really against trading for Gibson, especially since I have no faith in George anymore and would take the kid working the cellphone kiosk at the mall over him. But he is 31 and injury prone. We should only shackle ourselves to Gibson's contract if you think Annunen can carry a heavy load and might even have to come in during the playoffs.

Go all in for goalies, get Gibson before the end of the year and then trade for lankinen at the deadline..
Yeah, also add Crosby to boot

So we would take the exact same gamble of Georgierv, except for twice the years, and pay for it?

And that is for retained Gibson
