And when it comes to Gibson, they’d also have to worry about the remaining term on the contract, given their always-complicated salary cap situation.”

Looks like the goal is to get Landy in, maybe pickup another D and just steamroll teams with our below average goaltending keeping us afloat.

The problem is we run into teams just as good with far superior goaltending in Dallas, Winnipeg, etc.

Yeah, I’m as sick of Georgiev as anyone but goaltending is likely always going to be a question mark no matter who replaces him. Goaltending is a crapshoot in todays NHL.

The problem with fitting Landy in is they have to dump a good player to do so, and he might be a shell of his former self. It’s a very tricky situation.

Even if you really did believe in Georgiev for whatever reason, you clearly don’t believe in Annunen. How could you be out of the goalie market?

Go get Blackwood. He’s cheap. Annunen probably even holds a little value to San Jose. Send them Annunen and whatever else is needed to get him.

I know people scoff and figure that it's a huge pipe dream but if the pengooins start selling off Malkin and Letang and more, I'm not convinced that #87 is really going to want stay there and ride-off into the sunset for the next 2.5 seasons while playing with a bunch of Tyler Arnason wannabees.

IF he was to be traded here (and that's a big giant IF) then my expectations are that it would be for this year and next year and then he'd be shipped back to PIT for the last year of his deal. (Isn't that pretty much our window anyways?)


Nah...I'd prefer the Avs go full gangster and give vgk a taste of their own medicine. Ask Gabe if his 'setback' is going to have him out until approximately April 17th at 10pm EST. After all, what's a few more months??? Then you put him on LTIR for the season and acquire Crosby with minimal or no retention. Rants is able to stay on the team for this playoff run and if all goes well he goes to UFA with 2 Cups on his resume. It sucks to lose him for nothing but at the same time - 2 Cups.

I don't look at it as losing him for nothing, you gain almost 10 million in cap space.

Introducing Landeskog to the intensity of playoff hockey after not playing a single game in three years could be a disaster. Look at how, every season, some guys are rusty to start the year. That's after just a few months off. Imagine how Landy is going to look after 36 months off.

If he comes back, I think he needs regular season hockey.
