Honorable mention goes to Craig Anderson’s mask after we traded him to Ottawa.

To be honest, my two favorite goalie masks of all time Roman Turek with the Number of the Beast/Eddie buckets and Giles Gratton photo realistic panther mask.

Gary Cheevers is the GOAT but was before my time. Well...before my time watching hockey.

As a guy who watches Liljegren on a nightly basis here in Southern Ontario, I like the trade for the Leafs.

It's not that Timothy is a bad player, but he's not an exceptional puck mover or offensive defenseman like people believe he is. To add to that, he's passable at best in his own zone.

Most importantly, the reason I like the trade for the Leafs is because Berube clearly doesn't value a player like Liljegren. He wants big, physical defensemen who block shots and clean up the front of the net first and foremost. Berube loves his bottom 4 of McCabe-Tanev, Benoit-Timmins and Timmins will be out when Hakanpaa is ready to go. Rielly and OEL on the top pairing are the only guys who get any freedom to skate and join in the play, the bottom 4 are strictly defensive guys.

Benning stinks offensively, but again, for what Berube wants in his bottom 4, he's a good fit. Another 200+ pound guy who blocks shots and makes life difficult for opposition(when he can catch them). He'll compete for 7D with Timmins once Hakanpaa is in.

Liljegren was never going to work under Berube.

To me, though, this is why Toronto will never go anywhere in the playoffs.

They've got big, lumbering defensemen who come playoff time against a fast forechecking opposition will struggle to get to loose pucks and struggle to get pucks to their forwards with speed in transition.

The Leafs core-4 minus Nylander already struggle enough in the playoffs. Could be another rough time this postseason.

That's fair and I probably agree with it.

My view is strictly on why the Leafs made this trade; to appease their new Stanley Cup winning head coach. This trade works for what he wants.

Yup. You definitely need some meat and potatoes guys in the playoffs, no arguments there. But I think by far the biggest issue plaguing Toronto is no one on the back end can get the damn puck to the forwards sticks in the playoffs. Then you have Marner and Matthews having to chase dumped in pucks all game or starting in their own zone a bunch because of all the icings the dmen commit.

The one thing helping them is the East has gotten considerably weaker. Do I think they beat the panthers - no. But Carolina and Boston have taken a step or two back. Jersey still hasn’t taken that next step. Rangers and panthers are the toughest out. Leafs are probably third best team. Playoffs anything can happen.

Yep. Nailed it.

Berube is probably the 2nd-worst coach in recent memory to win a Stanley Cup. Only Randy Carlyle ranks below him.

Treliving's gonna do the same thing to the Leafs he did to the Flames, maybe worse.
