Wouldn't sending Shittington and 4giev to the AHL save us enough money to claim a warm body off of waivers? Why are they not using IR effectively if money is so tight?

So many questions, too many questions. Just passs up a free player because....?

I think Kovy has more confidence it's just a paper transaction than 4Gieve would lol.

It just seems crazy they couldn't manage to claim that cheap of a player with all of the long term injuries.
I think it’s more the point of being able to fit everyone if there’s a point where we’re healthy.
They could afford to bring in Aman. But it might create complications later on. Our team is pretty stacked IF EVER there’s a point where we can ice a full team

I can't imagine Aman being worse than what Wagner brings which is nothing. Actually, it's less than nothing... he's a negative player.

I guess it could be the difference between Wagner's 775k and Aman's 825k or the fact that he's signed on for an extra year on a one-way deal and they don't want him taking up a contract slot next year.

If I had to guess though, it was probably personal where they were like "hey f***er, you didn't want to sign here... we'll, enjoy the AHL you shitter, we're not giving you the chance to earn an NHL salary".

Pretty sure I heard Bednar say that they might have money to replace Steinberg but beyond that he didn’t know. Looks like that was Prischepov. I’d say money is tight.

That’s why they hired the guy from the nhl recently. They are going to send protected guys up and down all year to save something for the deadline I’m asssuming.
I thought you can't accrue cap space with LTIR overages.

That might be true as well. I don’t understand the point then of sending Kovalenko and Ivan up and down just on paper on the non game days if they aren’t somehow saving cap space?

Nuke is probably by league day... IIRC the suspension cam the afternoon of the 13th, which is technically the next league day. So probably some confusion on if it ends the 14th or 13th. In the end, it is just one game, so NBD.

Cap wise... the Avs have about an 81m roster today. The ups and downs obviously change that and LTIR rules are tricky. But the day Nuke is activated, he's back at his 6.125m rate (though he won't count until that happens). That'll put the Avs right near the cap on the daily rate when activated. Which is why the Avs are pulling these daily moves. Bank as much as they can now as they don't really have room to activate Landy should the time come.

Technically, the Avs are not above the cap because Nuke is treated like he was shot to Mars. According to CapWages, the Avs are $7.278M under the cap, but that actually includes 24 players, not 23, largely because there are 3 goalies active on the roster. So really $8.278M

In theory, Landy takes $7M of that space, should he return, leaving $1.278M. Nuke is going to require approximately $5M when he returns. So even cutting 4 players and using a roster of 20 - thus saving about $3.4M - the Avs are still a little bit short. So every dollar they can save by these paper transactions will ( I presume CMac has calculated this) slowly accrue enough room for Nuke.

TL;DR - Unless the Avs conserve cap space, they will be unable to fit both Nuke and Landy on the roster.

But... but... Landeskog is never coming back so why would the Avs have the math down to a tee to accommodate both Landy and Nuke?
