It was reported this week that the Evans camp wants $4M per for 5 years from the Habs.

Maybe somebody gives him that as a UFA, I hope it's not us.

If we can't get a #2C Mitts replacement then I want Bjorkstrand as that Top-9 winger.

He has one more year at 5.4M, and Seattle doesn't look to be selling. They are apparently trying to extend Gourde even, but most think he wants to move on to a contender.

If you want to pay for a winger, Tuch would be the better target.

I suspect the Avs wanted to get their Dman done now since Manson is still gonna miss time.
The AVS are healthy up front so a lot less urgency for their forward acquisition(s)

Bednar said Manson is back soon, probably not Tuesday but likely Thursday or Saturday (his words). Agree they wanted to get D done though, it’s been a huge issue for a while.

I’m watching London-Oshawa right now and I bet a lot of NHL scouts are too. Cowan vs Ritchie. I’ve shit on this league most games I’ve watched over the last handful of years but this game is very high paced and Ritchie looks goooood. Did a real good job on the PK in a 3v5 situation, has laid a few big hits on the forecheck and is moving at a pace better than I’m used to seeing. I haven’t exactly been his biggest fan but this is encouraging.

So your assessment…keep him?

Talent is there, it was clear even during his 7 game cup of coffee to start this season. It's the consistent engagement, moving the feet, finding a way to contribute on every shift that was lacking. He seemed to struggle with the concept of balls to the wall every shift and what a true NHLer looks like in terms of work ethic and compete level.

If that part improves, he obviously has the talent to be an effective top 6 forward.

You also can't teach 6'3". Period.

Will be interesting to see if the Avs hold onto Ritchie/Nabokov at the deadline. Both are not that far off from being NHL’ers, which will make them more attractive to trade partners.

You’d love to keep them, but in the right deal I’d move them. I wonder if the Blackwood signing/extension makes them view Nabokov more expendable.

I don't believe Nabokov holds much value around the league.

I cant see much being worth giving these guys up, especially if it comes with overpriced term. And both are worth more than most rentals. If they get moved better to do it during the off-season.
