Get that guy in an Avalanche uniform tomorrow. Well spoken guy, wants to win more than anything, will probably happily give up the offensive role in Chicago to play pure shutdown minutes here.

F***ing get it done.

IMO a move like that would be akin to Tampa Bay trading for Ryan McDonagh. Guy went from being a 35-45 point #1 in NYR to being a shutdown monster for the Lightning playing against the best.

Do it, CMac.

Arlington, Texas?

The Stars are working on it.
No one cares King of the Hank Hill tornado land when he was 3 days old. Jack Hughes was born in Orlando, but learned his hockey in Michigan/GTA. Seth Jones was there in glass seats....Game 7...2001....Colorado Avalanche....New Jersey Devils...Ray Bourque....Super Joe....Alex Tanguay before he got round.

Bring the lad f***ing home brethrens

In. CMac to dumb to do it. He slept knowing Valimaki was available and the Avs have three horrible Dman in Middleton, DeHaan and Kylington on the roster.

Seravalli said today that Chicago is willing to retain some, but not up to 50%, to move him. However, he said that Seth needs to include more teams than the very select few he has informed The Hawks he would waive his NMC for. Otherwise, Chicago is perfectly fine keeping him there.
Sounds like an Anaheim/Gibson scenario where the Ducks were happy sitting on their hands and keeping the asset until it depreciated entirely, then seemingly having to search for takers as of 2025.

The Blackhawks would be wise to accept what they can for Jones rather than hold onto a clearly disgruntled player. If you want max value, retain 50%.

I do think this is where he ends up as well if he's moved by TDL. Hopefully not, but it makes sense.

Seravalli mentioned Ristolainen as a possible acquisition for Dallas. In his opinion, he doesn't think Dallas can make the money work for Jones beyond this year. He also said that he thinks Jones won't be dealt till this coming offseason.

The thing is, I don't think Jones would have to turn into shutdown guy. I actually think he'd produce more offensively with the Avs.

His pairing might play with a Necas driven 2nd line, and they might feel more comfortable with it playing more with Nate's line than G-Manson.

That big point shot is gonna produce a lot more goals and rebound chances than Girard's muffin. Love G's transition game, but that shot is almost a play killer. With very few exceptions, nothing ever comes from it except an easy save from the goalie.

I think Jones play lately shows how well he can play when he's excited about the chance to win. I think that would just carry over to the Avs. He's been on bottom dwellers for so long it's understandably sapped his motivation. He's just waiting to be rejuvenated again and play for something meaningful.

Let's go CMac, lets make this happen. It could be Rob Blake 2.0. That trade made a huge difference to the Avs blueline for a lot of the same stylistic reasons, and he was played in a #3 role just like Jones would be.

With Chicago needing help up front, I could see them being interested in Mitts.

I think an ideal situation is we move Mitts in a Jones deal and bring in a Mitts replacement with Ritchie++.

That might be the complication here for us - securing that secondary deal before committing.

I would hate it because it be horrible asset management in hindsight losing Byram like this but a deal centered around Mitts + one of our 2nds for Jones and Donato makes some sense for both sides. Try and throw in one of the turds like Wood and Colton to balance cap.

Ugh, every year it seems like the Avs get burned on an injury to a trade target they waited too long to acquire.

Also, how is Jack Quinn's awareness such dogshit? How did he not see Dumo's leg there? He didn't change course at all.
If the Avs get a player that is going to push Manson down to the bottom pairing, i don't think Dumo was going to be a target. I think they'd have probably traded for Grzlcek in that case for more of a puck mover to pair with Manson.

If they don't then possibly to play with Malinski.

“It’s still a sellers’ market out there today,” one NHL team executive told The Athletic on Tuesday.

“There’s not a big group of players available right now,” another said.

That’s just 10 days out from the deadline. There just aren’t as many sellers — not yet anyway — as in a normal year.
This, plus the comments in there from Utah's GM... It's not a ringing endorsement for many moves being made this year.

And if you needed an idea where Jones wants to go...
The Dallas Stars, according to league sources, would top the wish list for Jones — Dallas being his hometown. Would the Florida Panthers make sense given that Aaron Ekblad is a pending UFA who hasn’t been extended?

How upset are we going to be when Vegas trades for Bowen Byram for less than everyone thinks?

Watching my favorite team trade away my favorite player was torture enough - and that was before Mitts proved to be a pile of shit.

Having to watch Byram go and play for one of my most hated teams with the guy that started his concussion issues would probably put me in the grave.

Do you think CMac was behind that decision to trade Byram? Or was it Sakic? I don’t think Sakic makes that move. I was a big Byram supporter but I didn’t think he was going to get to showcase himself as a #1D or supplant Toews anytime soon. The lesson is, unless you have a bona fide blue chip player then you don’t trade a Byram level player for a Mitts level player.

Great song, man you really know what I really like!

I have been listening to some old school State of Trance lately and this one caught my eye:

I am a sucker for OceanLab, I don't think I have ever listened to a bad song by them.

Nice song mate. I could drive on the highway and listen to his stuff forever.

I believe it was Byram. It's well documented that Avs management knew they were eventually going to lose him as he wanted a shot to try to be a #1D somewhere.

I don't blame management for taking a swing on Byram/Mitts. Mitts had the potential to be a top six center. But they swung and missed big time and the blame falls on them for that. You don't trade a kid like Byram and wiff on the trade without taking a rash of shit.

They would have been better served trying to package Byram and getting a center with more proven experience.

The retention numbers he threw out are also interesting. If this is what Colorado and Dallas want retained I can see the hard line Chicago is taking, of ok we'll revisit this in the offseason. 2.5@7M would work for us. He's easily worth good assets for that.

I bet Provorov is asking for 6.5 to 7M.

Just get that shit done yesterday Cmac.

That contract has five years left after this one. So there’s no question in my mind if the Blackhawks are able to move Jones, it will require either retaining salary or taking back a bad contract. At $6 million or $6.5 million a year, I can see teams perking up. Retaining salary for that many years may seem somewhat onerous if you’re Chicago, but it would improve the actual return on the deal.

I had a dream last night that the Avs traded Mitts, Colton, Jusso, Malinski, Ritchie, Olausson, and all their 2nd rounders for Hayton, Jones, and Boeser.

Mitts straight up for Hayton

Complicated 3-team deal between NJ, Chicago, and the Avs involving Colton + Ritchie + Canes 2nd going to NJ, Mercer + Jusso + Malinski to Chicago, and Jones ($2M retained) to Colorado.

Then NYR 2nd + Olausson to Vancouver for Boeser.

Landy returned, and the Avs rolled with

JD/Mack/Nuke
Boeser/Hayton/Necas
Landy/Drury/Lehky
Kivi/Kelly/LOC
Wood

Toews/Makar
G/Jones
Kylington/Manz
de Haan/Ludwig

BBW
BWW

They won the Cup, and then Manz and Landy immediately retired allowing them to re-sign Boeser and JD.

Like I said, it was a dream....

OK, I'm gonna go eat breakfast now...
