He doesn’t have the vision or skating to be a premier player up the middle.
He is much better on the wing where he can use his size in the corners and front of the net without the defensive responsibilities of a center. He is not good defensively at all.
What if he doesn't have to be a premiere line driver though?
Probably won't happen, but imagine a Nuke-Brady-Necas line? Val for the defense. Brady for the moxy. Necas for the zone entries, play driving, and playmaking. Val and Brady can win battles in the corners and front of the net and all three can shoot the puck.
The Avs don't actually need good two way centers for their system. Nate, Kadri, and Compher aren't that great defensively. They rely on good defensive wingers like Landy, Val, and Lehky.
Brady's goal scoring could be just what the Avs need at 2C if he can play well there.
