It’s unfortunate there’s no great trade partners for a 2C that fits our age window. Really makes it feel like we dropped the ball on players like Eichel, Horvat, Miller or to a lesser extent Hertl.

Hopefully whoever we acquire has a bit more skating to help our center rotation.

Hertl was the only realistic option.

Miller wasn't waiving here, We still had Kadri when Eichel was available and who knows if we win a cup if we get Eichel instead of Kuemper/Manson/etc. Horvat we couldn't afford his contract.

I’m not sure I agree with that, Eichel himself said he thought he was going to be an Av, so we must have had a pretty competitive offer on the table for him.

At the end of the day I think we tried to fill holes with players who are either suboptimal for that position or players who aren’t good fits for our system. Bednar’s system relies too much on speed and when players don’t have elite skating their other shortcomings tend to get exposed.

If I’m CMac I’m using Colton, Mitts, Ritchie, picks and probably anyone outside of the true core to address our issues.

I sincerely hope my argument with Henchman21 played no part in driving him away.

I'll admit it wasn't my finest moment. I generally have control of my emotions, but that conversation pushed my big red button. I felt at the time that his posts were intended at making me look stupid, rather than debating the facts. And that wasn't the first time I felt like that, so I didn't hold back.

...also not my finest moment was my "other" big Mittelstadt-related skirmish with you, Foppa. Sorry for crossing the line.

No worries. The fact is that Henchman was extremely popular, and my posting frequency runs hot and cold. I don't want to be responsible for driving away an A-Lister when I'm a bit player (at best).

I don't think Hench is the type, he's got into plenty of heated arguments over the years.
