Not sure how anyone would suggest throwing away assets on him. Unless they believe we can flip him for a 2C that Mitts doesn't get us.
The Avs don't draft wingers, they draft centers and try to force them to become wingers in the NHL when it becomes CLEARLY obvious they never had what it takes to be a center at the NHL level.
The Avs have also directed a much larger percentage of their cap to wingers than centers and have made the team unbalanced as a result. The answer to this is not adding another top six winger.
We didn't use Rantanen (who dominated the league when played as a center) even though he was better than our other options. Newhook and/or Jost were never going to cut it as effective centers.
Why even entertain bringing in yet one more winger with the hope they can maybe play center? Just go get a god damned center. Pay what it takes if you must but get it done.
That is CMac's job. Bednar's is tougher, because he's suffering from the worst case of tunnel vision I've seen in a head coach in a long, long time. Dude is expecting the 4th line to play the same as the 1st. He's got nothing different to tell them to do. There is a reason why there is so much choas on the Avs. We have a gameplan based around basically the only 5 people in the world capable of playing it. Once that unit is off the ice, everyone is left to defend for themselves. Bednar only tells them they don't skate as well as the top unit and need to be better.
If not trades, some rumors need to pop up

Isn't that the thing with Crouse? For a big dude he can move.
The McCann speculation got us talking. It’s going to be okay, Bob.
Yeah, I don't think we should be prioritizing wingers, but every time I watch Crouse, I'm surprised at how well he moves for such a big man.
I always wonder if he can skate at that pace consistently on a Bednar team without wearing out though? Similar to our conversations on Mitts.
Boobs or cataract surgery. For your information, I need to have replacement implants put in.
Your guess on which kind
People are getting desperate because there are limited scoring line options for deadline targets so feel it's mandatory that we make a move, any move, just to feel as though we didn't waste the season or whateverAre we talking Jared McCann the 3rd line wing in Seattle? Why do we need him?
Third line minutes though. I just wish if we were spending 4M on a 3rd line winger, that it was someone more like him rather than Colton.
Colton has drove me nuts since day one though even at 3C.
I'm with ya and I know you love itThat's fine, I'm just not nearly as high on Jones as others are on this board.
I’m thinking excommunication and permanent banishment might be fitting for the two of you.I'm with ya and I know you love it
I would have been ok with Colton at $4M at center, if he was playing well. Especially the way that Wood-Colton-LOC line played. I wish we could have seen that again this year to see if it worked like it did last year.
Seems as though the medium term plan is Drury at 3C though. Colton as an inconsistent 3rd line winger at $4M, that's an easy decision to try to shed that salary in the off season.
Crouse would bring more to the table when not scoring than Colton, but that salary would still be tough to fit in. Maybe if they view him as Val/Landy insurance or something?
Boobs or cataract surgery.
JTC has never been bitched the way McCann was by Makar. I've got no place on this team for him.Jared McCann is as much of a 2C as JTC was.
I've always loved Crouse. @Hasbro will be the first to tell you, I've always leaned towards the beef in our lineup. But I've never though Lawson should be the primary target but rather a piece to make it a bigger trade. Always though we would snag a 2C out of Arizona and try to get Crouse involved to make it bigger. Hayton being the last guy I wanted to target a couple of years ago.Yeah, I don't think we should be prioritizing wingers, but every time I watch Crouse, I'm surprised at how well he moves for such a big man.

Penile. We won't notice a difference but his wife is going to thank him.Boobs or cataract surgery.
Not sure about McCanns ability to play C... But he would add something out top 9 desperately needs. An ability and willingness to shot the god damn puck.
I just...no.If you could get rid of Colton and Wood, and replace them with McCann and an actual 4th line contract.
He could be pretty useful as a guy that can play C in a pinch, or move up as a top six winger. Especially if they actually try Necas there. Having two guys that know the position could help Necas succeed at it.
He's got speed, he leans shot, Necas leans pass. There is a world where I can see it being a good move.
Even if Landeskog comes back so well that he pushes him down to the 3rd line.
Drury is getting either Landeskog or McCann and if you want some offense from the 3rd line, that would be a good way to do it. I do think Drury is smart enough to produce a touch more.
Ass implants and you know itBoobs or cataract surgery.
I just...no.
We need a center. Not another winger who could maybe play C in a pinch. Rantanen dominated as a C. We refused to use him as one while we f***ing sucked for two years because we had no 2C.
Do not ever bring in a winger with the thought of them playing C again. At least not until Bednar has been put in his place. He works for the GM and at some point needs to start using the pieces he's given for the purposes they were brought in for. If he can't manage a gameplan around that, then he needs to f***ing go yesterday. I'm not blaming Bednar for Jost or Newhook sucking. I'm blaming him for not imediately moving them to wing. Same with Mitts. I can't blame him for Mitts being in the lineup but I can bash him for doing nothing to really create different identities for his lines based on their talent.
It's gotta suck for CMac to be giving Bednar pieces and see him continously throw them to the side. Especially the deadline aquisitions. CMac brings in sandpaper like we've not had in a long time with both Yakov Trenin and Brandon Duhaime. Bednar somehow f***ed them both up. He just doesn't know what to do with players who aren't as good as MacKinnon and Makar.

What has made him not successful there? Defense? Face offs?Seriously?
Necas has never been successful as a center in the NHL, but you want to add more salary cap to the wingers?
f*** me.
