Correct. But Dobson is an offensively slanted dman who wouldn't get PP1 time... So we'd be spending major assets on a guy that we wouldn't be utilizing well at all.

FTR I'm not one of those people but if we were to get him it would not be to compete with Makar for top offensive minutes on the right side, unlike Dobson.

Jones would be here for PK and eat the tough defensive minutes.

Seth Jones isn't a 1D and can't carry the defense of a horrific Blackhawks team, but he doesn't need PP1 time to be an effective dman.

I think he'd be a pretty great fit for what we like to do. Reach for the stars. We already stole one top pair Dman from them, should do it again.

Yeah so why not get an actual 1D for the 2nd pair? Sounds even better to me. Though, I'm guessing Dobson probably wants more like 9M+ on his next deal. In this fantasy of mine, we'd somehow bridge him as an RFA and perhaps walk him to UFA so we can fit him in

Please understand I'm not suggesting that we're actually going to pull this off or even attempt to.

Noah Dobson isn't the best defender in the world. He's an offensive PMD and if you're not going to use him in that role given the salary he's likely to command as a pending RFA, what's the point?

You know that Seth Jones is someone who can eat big defensive minutes and PK minutes. Dobson in a non-offensive role seems like a bad idea.
