Yeah that's kinda what I'm getting at.

We'll see how Mitts finishes the year. I'm expecting another mini hot streak at some point. I'm just speculating, but I feel like he doesn't have the natural athleticism to play his style though, so he might have to consider changing it. Do less puck hounding, as counterintuitive as that sounds.

He's trying to be both Duchene and ROR. He's not built for that physically and he doesn't seem to have the natural athleticism to get his conditioning where it needs to be to do both either.

The end result being that he always has peaks and valleys during a season, because his style isn't sustainable for him.

IMO the mental change should be for him to just accept he's a lesser Duchene offensively, but a better Duchene defensively. But don't try to be ROR defensively.

Allow himself to reserve a bit more energy during a shift for offense. He's got the hands and the vision. Just needs to separate himself from the contact quicker to make plays more often, and make the simple play more often when he's under pressure.
Trading him is probably the optimal fix here, but I'm not holding my breath given what we think is actually available in terms of "upgrades". I still really wonder if putting him with Nuke and Lehky solves this problem (two puckhounds and one with speed), at least for the rest of the year. For some reason he didn't look great with Nuke in a limited showing, but flourished with Kovalenko and LOC--which are stylistically similar albeit much less talented.

No No, Sid is getting conditioned for his new team after the 4 nations.....😎😄

Mitts, Colton, Wood, Malinski, Middleton

How do we replace all 5? That’s not easy. I think replacing Malinski and Middleton is priority #1, then replacing Mitts close 2nd. When or if we get Landy back along with Val, we can healthy scratch Wood and keep him as an extra forward in case of more injuries, or maybe CMac can include Wood in a trade.

Then hopefully Colton can provide something on the bottom 6. He was good earlier in the season, so maybe he can get back to being good again. I don’t think we can replace all 5 of those players mid season.

I'm expecting Mitts to go supernova in the playoffs.

The Federov to MacKs Yzerman.

The Messier.

There are great one two punches at Centre in the hundred year history of hockey.

Then there is Mittelstadt.

I am more curious as to why he wants to delay so long to post the rumour when he could have done it all yesterady.
It’s the way social media algorithms are designed to work. Annoy or flat out enrage people, you automatically garner more engagement, more clicks, and more visibility.

Ewwwwwww. That's why I barely use Twitter anymore.
I'm almost off it entirely. Can't quite kick my Insta addiction but I'm getting there.

Facebook is insidious. We tried a boosted post for our work site on there and got deluged with stuff from bots, relatively vile humans (or bots posing as vile humans, just as bad), and spam galore threatening to shut down our site due to "copyright violations." Never, ever again am I handing Zuck and the lazy twatwaffles who work for him another dime.

Bluesky doesn't have an algorithm, the one and only downside of that is if you want engagement, you have to repost stuff repeatedly to get everyone's attention. But yes, people who know the game on those other sites know how to play it.

My $0.02:
  • Mittelstadt - Only in a trade for a better 2C
  • Colton - I think he has value, but probably is here until the NMC expires (could change if the player isn't happy/right team comes calling)
  • Wood - San Jose willingly took on Goodrow, so anything is possible...
  • Malinski - I think he has value and if I had to put money on it, he's the guy I expect to get moved
As for Middleton, I'd say no chance he's moved. The Avs just extended him in January. He's a guy that needs to be replaced in the sense that he should be on the bench most nights. He's the new MacDermid, except he actually knows how to play hockey.

Might be a hot take, but I've been impressed as hell by Middleton. I think he's a lot better now than he was even a month ago, and think his skating/puck moving is underrated. His last 10 games in particular (53.2% CF) have been really solid. As a 10-12 minute per night #7 defenseman, I'm happy with him.

Bluesky only has one weakness: Not everyone has moved there yet. Twitter has been on a downwards spiral for a long time, even before it was sold. Though I did finally deactivate my account when the owner was openly sieg heiling.

The NTC for Colton seems problematic until you realize if he doesn't agree to waive it, you can just waive him and the team you're trading him to, or a worse team, will just claim him anyway.

Now, if it was a NMC, then you're screwed cause I don't believe you can even waive the player.

Or do I have it all wrong?

Perhaps there could be a 3-team deal worked out where Colton ends up in NJ, Jones in Colorado, and picks/prospects end up in Chicago?

You have that right. He does only have a NTC, so they can do what NYR did if forced, although I'm not sure the team goes that route.

Middleton has no business whatsoever on NHL ice. I have no idea what he was thinking on that second goal. Just hovering in the middle of nowhere, covering no one. Not only let a guy get behind him but WAY behind him, to the point where he had a wide open passing lane to set up the score.

Yeah, when I’m saying replaced, I don’t necessarily mean all 5 of those players should be traded. They just shouldn’t be in the lineup full time like Middleton. I think Mitts really needs to be traded though. He plays a bigger role than Wood and Colton, and without a legit 2C, this team won’t go anywhere.

Yeah, it's waaaaaay better than it was just a few months ago but there's still not quite enough media people over there yet for it to be as quick with news as Twixter once was.

I think it'll get there eventually though.

I also have been impressed with him. He's fine as a regular season #6/#7, but to me, his development curve reminds me a lot of Andreas Englund. That said, even though his success story is a rarity on this team, if another team asks for him in return or as a "throw in" for a better defenseman or a 2C, CMac orders him an Uber to the airport before the trade is even submitted to central registry.

Englund was much better than Middleton was, and IIRC both are getting roughly the same amount of sheltering/minutes.

I can still wish for Pinto right?

I'm starting to jump to the Cozens idea, he's on a long-term deal through his prime, he gets us younger, right shot.

Who is cozens most common linemates?

I ditched twitter as well. Too many bots, people trolling just for rage bait and attention. Everyone is verified and if not you get buried. Too many ads that take up my whole screen.

There’s enough accounts on Bluesky so I can at least get what I want from sports. Only thing that bugs me at this point is there aren’t any pro nfl and nhl teams on there.
