Ferraro would be interesting to me… analytically he’s been bad, but who wouldn’t on that that. I would imagine being in a smaller role would have him looking better than he currently is, just like Jones.

One costs 4.1M and the other 9M.
Agreed. But I actually wouldn’t be surprised if their costs were similar.

The Seth Jones NMC can have a massive effect on cost. I have my doubts that Carlo would fit in this system. I have zero doubts Jones would

My biggest concern watching Ferraro is he has been a horrendous passer in my viewings this year.

The amount of times he tries to breakout of his own zone and just gets passed picked off, sends them down for icing, or gives up and chips pucks off the glass is alarming. That shit would be a disaster in Bednar’s system where all 3 forwards have left the zone right after the D retrieves the puck.

He plays a physical game for his size and is a decent skater, but yeah, bad with the puck.

Not too sure.

Yeah but the Avs always get there guy. Especially many years too late. If we are paying Jones money I would rather go for Parayko

Difference being here is that I don’t think St Louis has even the slightest interest in moving Parayko.

Gotta go with what’s available and not just what we want.

Maybe not. They don’t know what the f*** they are doing with that team. Friedman has been linking him to Toronto forever. I just feel like we made the tough decision to get rid of Bo and now we want to tie up that much salary on D again? What we need is a value contract at 4D.

I’m not sure about Ferraro either but I posted it because it was linked to Pagnotta

When we traded Bo the FO didn't know the Cap was gonna go up by 26m in 3 years

Meanwhile reports are coming in that the NHL ratings are at an all time low in the U.S. Are we sure that the cap will go up as much as they have been projecting? Especially years 2 & 3?

Good analysis. This seems the most logical, although I'd argue the fix here is less about improving conditioning, and more about "working smarter--not harder". The problem is that the fix is would be such a stylistic teardown for how he plays currently, that it likely would need to occur in the offseason.

Yeah that's kinda what I'm getting at.

We'll see how Mitts finishes the year. I'm expecting another mini hot streak at some point. I'm just speculating, but I feel like he doesn't have the natural athleticism to play his style though, so he might have to consider changing it. Do less puck hounding, as counterintuitive as that sounds.

He's trying to be both Duchene and ROR. He's not built for that physically and he doesn't seem to have the natural athleticism to get his conditioning where it needs to be to do both either.

The end result being that he always has peaks and valleys during a season, because his style isn't sustainable for him.

IMO the mental change should be for him to just accept he's a lesser Duchene offensively, but a better Duchene defensively. But don't try to be ROR defensively.

Allow himself to reserve a bit more energy during a shift for offense. He's got the hands and the vision. Just needs to separate himself from the contact quicker to make plays more often, and make the simple play more often when he's under pressure.
