The players cap hit still changes though based on days on the roster so it still matters.
If the Avs are up against the cap, and they have say $5M in LTIR space, they can't trade for a $7M AAV until later in the season when the prorated amount is less than $5M, with the divided by 192 days calculation.
I think Sid has already realized that. Now it’s just a matter of pride and loyalty for the Pens for him to finish the career in Pittsburgh. He needs to think past that and come play with his good buddy Nate and win another cup. That loyalty and pride will only frustrate him until retirementWe gotta get lucky
I hope Crosby just realizes he can't stand not being competitive.

The only difference is Ray didn’t have a cup and really wanted one. I wish Sid didn’t have oneIt worked out well for Ray Bourque.
We really do need a capologist here. I tried my best to charm in and help with that debate, but I brought up hookers. Not much help I’m assumingAre you sure about this analysis?
Fkn Hench left us at the wrong time lol. Someone get Greg Sherman into posting of HF lol.

I know I was selfish saying I wish Sid didn’t have a cup. I just think if he didn’t have one, there is a really good chance he would want to go somewhere to win one, and Avs would probably be the team. He has 3 cups though, so it will be hard to convince him to leave PittsburghI don't wish that, but continuing to play not making the playoffs probably isn't worth it. I don't see Crosby caring about a record the way Ovechkin does.
I try o do my best with it, but I will never be an Hench’s level. I hope some team plucked him up and that’s why he left.We really do need a capologist here. I tried my best to charm in and help with that debate, but I brought up hookers. Not much help I’m assuming
That is how it works based on what I read here:I'm capable of being wrong like anybody else, but I haven't seen anything that suggests otherwise.
The part about how a player's cap hit is calculated divided by 192 x number of days on the roster is very clear.
Why would the league calculate a players cap hit different on a team into LTIR? That would give teams a much bigger unfair advantage when trading for them at the deadline. Jones would cost 4x more toward the cap for the Avs if traded for at the deadline than a team not on LTIR.
I'm not sure I understand this. Wouldn't the Avs then (and every team in the league) be able to acquire insanely expensive players at the TDL?The players cap hit still changes though based on days on the roster so it still matters.

Shake the tree something will shake loose after 4 NationsThis market is downright awful for buyers.
There’s… nothing to buy.
Maybe it’s best to start making our peace with the fact we (Avs) likely won’t get anything , at least not something significantWelp

Probably nothing significant as far as a 2C, but we still need some depth pieces, mostly on defense, and maybe another depth centerMaybe it’s best to start making our peace with the fact we (Avs) likely won’t get anything , at least not something significant

I don’t know if Buffalo is even selling. More like buying curious. The first couple of teams that decide to sell will be able to get high prices for their players. That’s for sure.
In the East, it seems only Buffalo and Pittsburgh have accepted their fates and are willing to sell. Maybe Philly. Too many shitty teams all bunched together with hopes of getting a wildcard spot. Detroit, Montreal, the Islanders, Boston, the Rangers…
In the West, you may have a few more. Chicago and San Jose willing to sell. Maybe the likes of Nashville, Seattle, St. Louis, Anaheim, and Utah put the for sale sign up at some point.
