Rumor: 2024-2025 Trade Rumors and Free Agency Talk | Part Deux

He doesn't. Also I just posted a fresh The Athletic article showing that he was right and you were wrong on the Chicago timeline.
Yeah ok whatever - I don't care how many 'fresh' articles this schmuck posts on the athletic - I'll never subscribe to that garbage.

He said he'd bet his house that Nazem Kadri would sign with the NYR the night before free agency. Good job, frank.

Also the whole 'being first' to report whatever - isn't the glorious, supreme journalism prize in the world many seem to think it is. First of all, it's by a few seconds and I think there are people out there who want to get it right AND verify their crap rather than be first with stuff that's wrong.

Emily Kaplan was first with the correct players being exchanged.

Besides, even adrian dater was FIRST to report the END OF THE LOCKOUT - OMG what a hero!!! (zero)

How bad of a move it would be for the Canes if they don’t win the cup and don’t re-sign Mikko? Talk about somewhat franchise ruining move

Not really, Necas was going to walk after that contract and they'll have a ton of cap space and assets left to make other moves if needed

6 games including two Eagles games… just because they were in the area.

Sure, Frank, sure.

Sounds like damage control leak to Frank because a deal probably fell apart.

Well someone did say they offered Rantanen to go to Chicago or Carolina. Reasonable to assume. Chicago was evaluating a big offer for Rantanen too. And Cmac used then to handle the money instead since everyone was already talking and they wanted to get rid of Hall.

I like the 'Jones is still in play' alternate reality better though.

Colton played 10 minutes today and looked like shit.

Even the 4th line played more than him. Kiviranta 13 mins, Kelly 12 mins…

Bednar has continuously demoted Colton down the lineup.
Yes, he's not been great lately, but honestly - what depth player is consistently playing at the top of his game across 82 games? If he did, he would be a top line player, not a depth one. He was great early on, not so great now. He'll probably be pretty good again this season.

Colton's contract is not bad. Nor is Manson's, btw. They're mid-tier/2nd tier players, but good ones. They bring a physicality to their game that ups the $$$. Good players with some flaws. Precisely the "depth players" we'd be begging for if they weren't here. Precisely the "depth players" we currently want more of right now.

Colton is a ~20g/40pt guy (across a 82 game season), who plays a relatively simple (and physical) game. Those attributes/numbers get guys ~$4M per. That's the market. We've got two of them, they're pretty good, all things considered, and we'd be begging for them if they weren't here.

I can't fathom the people who gripe about Manson and Colton at $4M, claiming they're the problem. They're not.

The problem is 2C. Mittelstadt. Period. End of story. That's the problem.

And if they don't solve that problem, none of the rest of the story matters.

P.S. This is why I don't get the Jones discussion. The Avs have a formidable Top 4 defensively. The Crosby discussion I get. Though I think that's a pipe dream.

That was proven to be free also many times over.

We learned later that he was part of the Canucks package.

Frank was the first to break the Rantanen trade, honestly he doesn't deserve the hate he gets on this board.

He's legit, but he makes mistakes. I have no issue with him. I just wanted to remember and help others remember KK did not get traded to us really.

It would still stink for them. They gotta re-sign Mikko. If they win the cup but can’t re-sign him, they probably won’t care as much, but if no cup and Mikko walks, ouch… that’s just gonna hurt

Mitts last five games, there is hope

Yeah, it doesn’t pass the smell test. Like the Hawks are gonna tell Frank who they were there to see, so they just fed him some shit sandwich and he ate it and then regurgitated it.

The futures assets they would get for trading Necas would be similar to what they'd pay to add a legit goal scorer for this run.

They needed that shot threat badly. Which we know is why Mikko is valued so much higher than Necas.

Their core is also aging just like ours. Wasted years are hard to swallow.

Totally understand their side of the trade.
