I'm most interested in what they're cooking for next summer now. Again, I think the cap is about to explode. I get why the Avs felt they couldn't do Mikko at $14M, but with a $95M cap they honestly probably could have made it work... As it stands we're gonna be looking at something like:

Friedman just said on NHL Network that Avs are NOT done yet, but did not say anything more than that. No word on players, time line, etc.

I still think there's a very real chance Jones is going to get traded here. Only way to explain the Hawks helping facilitate this deal and scouting us for 5 straight games.
I imagine the deal couldn't get done as Carolina probably had a deadline given they were very close getting, but a Jones trade is still in the works.

Maybe wishful thinking that's based on nothing but I'm kinda getting my hopes up for EP. I'm sure they were willing to go double digits for Mikko and probably more than EP but just not that 14 number. Could never realistically get him with Mikko around but now?
Yeah definitely agree. Especially if he does end up popping off with Mack the rest of this year. With the cap expected to skyrocket, just give Necas that $9M-10M and get it done to avoid this circus again.
Also makes you wonder... At one point in like September I think(?), there was a lot of rumors around about just how close we were to signing Mikko. Have to for sure imagine that number was probably like $11.5M back then and if it weren't for the Leon deal things might have went incredibly different for us.
