Rumor: 2024-2025 Trade Rumors and Free Agency Talk | Part Deux

Yeah these 2024-25 Avs are the worst edition of this team since the 2017-18 season, no doubt about that. If CMac wants to finish the retool it's probably a good timing.

Drouin - MacKinnon - Nichushkin: 22-23 TOI
Lehkonen - Mittelstadt - Necas: 17-18 TOI
Colton - Drury - O'Connor: 13-14 TOI
Wood - Kelly - Kiviranta: 8-9 TOI

Easy.

Even then, the 4th line can play 10. The top line should play MAX 21 minutes. Not a second more.

There is SO much data to back up not running top stars into the ground and Bednar seems to shun all of it.

I want our coaching staff canned before any trade.

I am done with Bednar. I can't stand his TOI allocation. That, more than anything, demonstrates to me he has no idea what to do with this team other than pray his stars win him games.

I'd be thumping the same drum, but I just don't believe they'll do it. I do think there is some chance they bring in fresh eyes for the power play.

Especially with the numbers you posted, it has to be an obvious gapping wound.

That would be news to me. Both Pedia and Wages have him listed as IR.

Sorry, IR, yes. Counts against the cap, not an active roster spot.

IR = Kylington
LTIR = Landeskog, Wood, Poolman

Kylington on IR is why we are roster compliant at 23 players. 14F + 7D + 2G.

The way Hall was playing they weren’t getting a 2nd for him.

That said, it’s ridiculous to only get a 3rd (their own pick in fact) for that AND full retention on Rantanen.
Full retention on Rantanen sounds like a lot, but his real salary is only $6m this year. Half of that is $3m. And pro-rated to about 1/3 (wince there's about 1/3 of the season left) is $1m.

Conversely Hall's salary is $5.25m. Pro-rated to 1/3 is $1.75m.

So they saved themselves $750k in real cash by moving Hall and retaining on Rantanen. And also gained ~$1.2m in cap space. While getting paid a 3rd.

They'd probably have gained that 3rd for Hall at the TDL anyways, but with that approach they wouldn't have saved as much real cash. So they come out ahead.

(Note I made an earlier post on this subject and think my math was a bit wrong in that one, even if my point was the same)

Is Chicago a team where real cash is actually a serious consideration? It makes the potential of a Jones trade and retention make more sense.
