If the Blues are willing to trade Parayko to Colorado, and he is willing to waive his NTC for Denver, then that just needs to get done.

Toews - Makar
Girard - Parayko
Lindgren - Manson
Kylington - Malinski

That's a perfectly balanced group for the playoffs, with tonnes of size in the bottom 4.

Then in the offseason you trade Manson ($4.5m X1 year) to recoup some trade capital lost in the Parayko trade.

Kinda hard to see the Avs getting that done without a 2025 1st though. And regardless of that it would be very unlike CMac to trade two 1sts and a prime prospect to begin with, especially a player on the wrong side of 30 (he's 31).

I think they're in a different position now post Cup. I don't think they're as concerned about signing 30 year olds, or contracts aging well long term, as long as they help the team win short or medium term.

CMac was willing to sign Kadri at 32. Signed Manson at 30. Also apparently willing to trade for Jones and Miller at 30 and 31.

6.5M for a #3 that perfectly replaces everything Manson brings would be like paying Manson 4.5M with the cap rising too.

If they're serious, and that player is available, you push the chips into the middle of the table.

Pipe dream, and we're getting some rando for the middle six, but I won't stop hoping until it doesn't happen.

Nate’s had enough of Sid’s shit.
“If you won’t come to Denver, I’m leaving the Lake. Enjoy training with Zach Sil and Liam Big Tuna O’Brien all summer.”

If they're planning on committing to a rebuild, where they won't make the playoffs the next five years, and Parayko is willing to be traded, what's the difference?
How soon after the Avs’ disastrous 48 point season did they make the POs? IIRC, the answer was pretty quickly.

As for Parayko, Army is way too smart of a GM to give a shit about trading with the Avs. He knows where they are and where we are. It’ll obviously take an overpayment, but if Army can pluck Ritchie and Nabokov away from Colorado for an aging Parayko I bet he does it. The Blues are playing good hockey and might fight to get in but they aren’t winning the cup and he knows that. He’s making that trade for 3 years down the road and beyond and by that point he’s not as concerned about Parayko burying him and it likely adds to closing the Avs window a little earlier while getting 2 of the Avs best tradeable assets.

For right shot D-Man that might be available...
Parayko
Ristolainen
Anderson
Carlo
Dobson
Larsson
Jensen
Murphy

From this Andersson will prolly be too expensive. But he'd be solid next to G. And Dobson has to be too expensive, wasted on the 2nd pairing too. Carlo leaves much to be desired, Larsson is cooked, Risto is still a massive gamble, Jensen I wouldn't take for our 2nd pairing personally and Murphy is slow as molasses.

So not many pickings there. Avs should've pressed harder for Jones. Definitely avoid Karlsson too, that guy will stifle Makar.

Just goes to show you how actually valuable Manson is right now.

We've scrapped the barrel for every possible 2C or 4RD, and can barely find legit upgrades even when looking at unrealistic targets.

Yes Parayko would be worth paying up for.

If Florida can't afford or don't want to re-sign Bennett at the number he wants this off-season as an UFA perhaps they'd be interested in a Mittelstadt/Bennett swap.

They get a middle 6 C with term for a pending UFA. And the Avs extend Bennett right after acquiring him, just as they did with Blackwood.

Drouin - MacKinnon - Necas
Lehkonen - Bennett - Nichushkin

That 2nd line 😆
Their saying Bennett is gonna roughly cost you 8per

I don’t think a big ticket defenceman is what this team is going after. I know people are going to act like the Lindgren acquisition is a nothing, but that’s obviously not how the Avs see it.

If they go after someone like Parayko with term it has to be dollars going out too, since there won’t be rentention on the contract. If you go after a defenceman you have to move money out from the forward group without a replacement.

IMO someone with a year, or two left is more likely, where they can get the team to retain to make it work. Or, Mittelstadt is moved out with assets for an upgrade.

Nelson, or Marchand are the guys I’d be looking at.

Kadri, as suggested earlier is interesting too, in a Mitts upgrade situation. A lot of ‘old guy’ options, but I’m ok with it. Worry about the future later.

Slot in vesey and move wood is the ideal in that scenario. Although I really think we need a upgrade on kirviranta

This season reminds me of the year when the Avs lost to the VGK. The TDL sucked that year. Who’d we pick up? Wasn’t it Soderberg and Nemeth? I understand the contention window is not going to remain open forever but I hate the idea of a panic buy or being stuck with a 30+ year old player’s multi-year contract.
