Top 6 wingers this season:
Rantanen
Drouin
Nuke
Lehky

Top 6 wingers to start next season:
Rantanen (maybe)

Not there:
Drouin (too expensive)
Landy (dead)
Nuke (high)
Lehky (surgery)

We are truly f***ed lol. Prepare yourself for Wood and LOC on the first line.

I don't know if they have a player lined up or not but I'm guessing they have too many picks stockpiled in order to actually use them, so may as well ship some of them out for something.
Similarly, Utah has a million second round picks the next few years. Wouldn't be surprised if they make a few trades like this or try to find a Toews type deal.

Okay, so 20M for Drouin in the four years.

Years 29, 30, 31 and 32 basically. We can do that.

Then years 33, 34, 35 and 36 we pay him 3M annually.

That's 8 x $4M. If he loves it in Colorado, that's doable. Tight, but doable.

We can afford lose the "3C battle" as our 1C will be better than other teams 1C (other teams than Edmonton) and this level Mitts wins most 2C battles. Mitts tips the scales in our favor.
That 1C has to actually win his battles.

And you need to be willing to let the 3C get outplayed for 15 minutes a night.

So that your top line can win their 20 minutes and the second line can win their 18 minutes.

If you drop the 3C down to like 12 minutes a game and your 1C plays 30 minutes (and your 1C is a doofus who often loses his matchups) you'll lose.

The way I interpreted this during the press conference was he misspoke , and then he corrected himself.

"I would be lying if I said it would be a challenge"

Then he corrected himself and said "it won't be a challenge", so his meaning was:

"I would be lying if I said it won't be a challenge"

Because he followed it up with the uncertainty of certain situations.

I could totally be wrong though, and I can see that with particular punctuation he could be saying the opposite.
