I think I'd add a 1st to truly get that doneMcCarron + Saros for Colton + Georgiev
If there was ever a time to trade Colton, it's now when his value is highest at the draft.
LolIf we spread things a little:
Drouin (4M) - MacKinnon (12.6M) - O'Connor (1.05M)
Lehkonen (4.5M) - Mittelstadt (5.75M) - Trenin (1M)
Innala (0.87M) - Rantanen (9.25M) - Kovalenko (0.896M)
Wood (2.5M) - Cogliano (1M) - Nichushkin (6.125M)
Landeskog (7M) - Ritchie (0.925M) - Wagner (0.775M)
58.2M
Toews (7.25M) - Makar (9M)
Girard (5M) - Manson (4.5M)
Johnson (1M) - Malinski (0.85M)
Middleton (0.775M)
28.4M
Georgiev (3.4M)
Annunen (0.837M)
4.2
24 players / 90.8M
5 million in cap space without Landy or Niche. Maybe Colton doesn´t have to be traded.

I'm not a huge fan of the concept, but I think it's what happens. I'll just toss out a prediction, Colton + 24th for 22nd + 55th.Between Colton's NTC coming up and the draft tomorrow. I'd bet money Colton is no longer an Avalanche in the next 30 hours.
Trading Colton to recoup some missing picks between rounds 2 & 3 is my guess. Then they use that freed up 4 million to extend Drouin.
It's encouraging to see so many teams interested in him. Hopefully cMac does well in that trade.
So the Avs would spend years trying to find an adequate (at least) 3C, trades for one last year and signs him to the going-rate for an average 3rd liner, only to trade him the next year and go back to having an inadequate bottom 6 (because remember, they have to find a new 4C now too)?Between Colton's NTC coming up and the draft tomorrow. Prioritizing a winger over a center is a terrible mistake, and one that they absolutely should not make. I want to keep Drouin too, but not at the expense of someone capable of playing the more important on-ice position.Yup. Welcome to cap hell. Mikko isn't even making 13 million yet!
It's pretty clear they're prioritizing keeping Drouin. I wouldn't even be surprised if they have an agreement with him already and just want to offload Colton first. Very Avs-like of them.
Somewhere else hopefullyRantanen really is going to be making more than Nate, isn’t he?
Maybe the Avs will sign Guentzel and trade Mikko.

It all depends on who they replace Colton with at 3CPrioritizing a winger over a center is a terrible mistake, and one that they absolutely should not make. I want to keep Drouin too, but not at the expense of someone capable of playing the more important on-ice position.
I've been screaming for years that the strength of the forwards should be down the middle. Clearly the Avs don't agree.
Mikko should have been traded this summer. Nuke's love for the powder really f***ed that idea though.
He has negative puck skills. If he's your 4C, it'll be worse than Cliche.Maybe they'll want to give Pavel a good shot at the 4C job. Bednar gushed about him in training camp last year before he unfortunately got hurt. He had a decent AHL season and may get a good look for the job instead of them looking outside the org.
