He’s not very good, they can definitely afford to acquire him. The cost would not be prohibitive. The fact he’s another 3rd liner is
Wow He's the same age as Beecher and has played 250 more games.
He's the perfect buy low high reward candidate just like Sam Bennett was.
But nope wait until he turns the corner and then try to get him.

It's even worse than I thought. But it sort of lines up with his WJC performance.
The Swedish coach was an asshole and a disaster. Not excusing necessarily but it’s a factor. People taking a poorly dropped Mougenel quote (shouldn’t have done that to a kid in the media) as gospel when they’ve never watched the kid is frustrating.

I think he’s going to surprise - and by surprise I mean do what he’s supposed to, which apparently will be a shock here.

If the Bruins don't feel like Lysell is a guy that has a future with the team let's package him for Laine.

To Boston
Laine w/ $3.7 million retained

To Columbus
Lysell
2025 3rd
2026 2nd

This would make Laine a $5 million hit for the final 2yrs of his contract. Does he play a full 200ft game? No, but he would bring offensive firepower that this team is lacking. He's looking for a fresh start and spent the end of the season in the PA program due to mental health reasons. The Bruins locker room could be a good place for him.
I can’t resist a talent like that. I’d do it.

Produces worse than a 4th liner like Beecher in the playoffs too

Bennett was also a lot meaner and more physical than Kakko. For sure worth more.

I’m not against taking a gamble on him but he’s not all that interesting of a guy imo. But he DEFINITELY isn’t a guy you should be saying “we don’t have the assets” for, that’s my whole point lol

Henrique is on my SIM team - watch him all the time

You aren’t a fan

I would pass if Donny because of age

About 4 years to late on him

I’ll qualify it with….

If we needed a 40 point guy to round out the top 9, he’d be fine, but since we need a few 60 point guys for the top 6 and have enough 40 point top 9 guys, I’ll pass.

Laine would be all over though

His dad died and knocked him into bad place

He’s still 26 and plsys LW

Laine - Lindholm- Pastrnak

BWAHAHAHAH

I like Zibanejad. I wouldn't want the Bruins to give up Poitras for him though. Have to think the Bruins target Lindholm in free agency first before trading for any forwards.
I would not trade Poitras for him either and the Rangers don’t need a goalie. I like the 3 way swap where we move someone for something the Rangers want, then complete the deal.

Oh sure I was just posting the guys DKH mentioned, but if we want to go down the line - could throw in these guys as well.

Ekblad 1st overall
OEL 6th overall
Okposo 7th overall

That's what, 8 guys who were top 10 overall picks?

Kulikov was a 1st Round pick by Florida originally. Might be mistaken but he was top 15.

I would consider Laine retained for the second line with Marchand and Coyle, depending upon the price. Then add a left winger or center to play with Pasta and Zacha. I want no part of Dubois with his contract and baggage.

Not really a reply to anyone, but just some general observations and thoughts. I would trade portrait or pretty much anyone mentioned kid did not impress me that much. That said, I would not make many of the trades here I'd go March is so sorry about the voice feed

So you don’t think Poitras is any good so the Bruins probably won’t get anything so why not just keep him if he has no value and maybe he can be good in the AHL

Barkov 2nd overall
Tkachuck 6th overall
Bennett 4th overall
Reinhart 2nd overall
Lundell 12th overall
I don't think how many former first round picks you have on your roster is a measure of anything. If it was, Buffalo would be your cup winner. They have more first rounders (some first overall) on their roster than any other team.

Great goaltending, solid team defense, speed and grit are what you need to win. A mixed roster that can play a game in different styles and adapt to adversity.

Bruins have a lot of that. We could use more speed, a little more grit and a real Bergeron replacement/1C. We are not that far away.

I’m surprised we are valuing laine so high. I wouldn’t offer much.

He clearly has some issues. He is always asking to be traded. He has stepped away from the game and has signed up for the player assistance program. He is kinda high risk imo. He is clearly offensively talented but these are some serious red flags. I feel like he drives coaches crazy.

That being said id still add him if I could. I’m just not out here trying to move anything significant for him.

Interesting that Zibanejad could be available. Lots of term left at an affordable price. Only concern would be tail end of contract with a full NMC. He is 31 already.

I watch a lot of Rangers games. Zinbanejad is IMO basically a PP specialist. When the Rags were playing Carolina I found this interesting statistic- of his 26 regular season goals only 5 were scored 5x5. Let me repeat: 26 goals scored, only 5 at even strength. And as you said, he's already 31 years old.

Pass.

Bruins biggest lack since the eighties has been not having more than one or two true goal scoring threats, if Laine is available you go get him, you can fit the whole contract no retention needed. Would lessen the return needed as well. put him on a different line then pasta and pp2 and watch teams struggle to cover both.

Would be unreal to have a top 9 of

Zacha - Lindholm - pasta
Marchand - Coyle - Laine
Heiden - Frederic - Geekie

You keep Wotherspoon as a no 6 if it means icing those forwards.
