2024-2025 Playoff Plavatar Thread

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.

What themes and memes have emerged over the season?

Is there something about this team that's different from years past?

Is there a movie or show or something else that captures the spirit of this year's Caps?

Do you just want to see weird funny shit?

This is a team full of "reclamation projects" and "miscreants" that most around the league expected to be suck. I'm sure there are a number of memes, movies, shows, etc that would fit the narrative.

Feels like any Rangers themed avatar needs to reflect horrifying acts of violence.

But that would be a lot of effort for just a single series.
 
The whole "The Caps ONLY care about Ovechkin's goal record!" narrative during the off-season (and beyond) annoyed me more than anything. (I mean, it made no sense!!) But yeah, anything that highlights the absurdity of that narrative vs the ridiculous success they've earned this year might be an option.

Photoshop Ovie as Emporer Palpatine, Thompson as Jesus, PLD as Faramir, Strome as a zombie, Wilson as the Terminator, etc, anything that was thought to be dead but wasn't/came back from the dead.

Tried to use AI to turn the Weagle logo into a Phoenix but I'm not crazy about the results. These were the two best of the crop. I guess at avatar size the f***ed up claws aren't as obvious though.

Just gotta make 'em eat crow by winning the whole damn thing. Then we can say, "Well golly! All we really cared about was Ovi's goal record and lookie here! We accidentally won the Cup. I guess we'll find a use for it. Maybe we'll buy Ovi a monster truck and use the Cup as a hood ornament..."

As for the avatars, I like the misfit ideas. Lotsa themes to build off of in that headspace... The Expendables, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Dirty Dozen, Suicide Squad, Firefly, Doom Patrol, Major League, Bad News Bears. Pretty much the theme of the first season of Shoresy.
