OT: 2024-2025 News Around The NHL Thread

If Mikko Rantanen comes available for 2025 UFA marker should Panthers target on him?
And if they should how much it would cost? Rantanen is asking 14 million USD.

So if you was in Zito's shoes who of these three guys you would sign?

He’ll get Benny and Ek for the price of Rantanen (or Drai)… so take Benny and Ek.

Sam Bennett easily.
Ekblad #2 if it's under $6 mil like Forsling.
Rantanen is a luxury too the degree we easily can't afford.

Tkachuk, Reinhart and Verhaeghe all locked up long term and chew up 3/4 top 6 winger spots and Samoskevich may be ready for top 6 in under 2 years time.

If ya move one of Bob or Knight and Rodrigues, you have enough space to keep Bennett and both Ekblad or sign/trade for a top 4 RD.

If he was available in 2026 I’d be open to that possibility since we’d have Bob and Knight’s contracts off the books, but it’s not really something I’d prioritize. I think our current forward group is one of the best in the league as it is. We need more imminent help on the back end.

If Rantanen really is asking that 14 million USD
what Pierre LeBrun has speculated it is absolutely too much for Panthers.
If i'm not mistaken Avalanche actually is the only team who can pay max 8yrs extension for Rantanen.

Defence and goaltending needs absolutely immidiate help.
Bob is getting older every year and Knight has his own problems.
So it is about a time to start think what to do with Bob or Knight if not both.

That's for sure Zito has lots of work to do into next off-season.
But lets see first is there any Panthers moves into trade deadline.

We absolutely don't need offense. We are 5th in GF at 5v5 and dominant on the pp and scoring SH. And Samo should develop a lot more, plus we should get something out of Devine/St. Martin/Sawchyn/Vilmanis. We need to shore up everything else, but offense is not a concern at all and hasn't been for several seasons.

I expect a firing or another trade to happen involving them.

Those trades and contract extension (both Laf and Shesterkin) really destroyed this team

if Rags are gonna rebuild, the time to acquire Rempe is now. Even if we never play him. I just want another asshole on the team even though he's just a big tree fall dumb player

If Rempe could play hockey sure. But the guy is a certified shitter and costs his teams with stupid penalties and Bambi skating (shoutout to Ekblad)
