I hate to be the bearer of bad news to the tankers, but even with 55 out, we are making the playoffs...
Call me crazy, but I agree. The way the team is rolling right now, I can see a real “next man up” mentality taking hold. With Leddy back, we are actually pretty deep on defense too:

Broberg - Faulk
Leddy - Fowler
Suter - Tucker/Kessel

Obviously we’ll miss Parayko, but that D group may be good enough given the weak remaining schedule and how the entire team is playing right now. I think it’s too early to abandon playoff hope.

Honestly, it's a good thing IMO. We were headed straight for no man's land territory again (no real shot in the playoffs, no top 10 pick). As much as people hated seeing Tank and ROR go, it brought Dvo our top prospect. Same could be with Schenn. We lose today but gain tomorrow. We don't need another prospect who is 3+ years away in that 13-20 range. We need someone who can potentially make the team or make waves around the league to where they're high trade bait. Imagine if we had another Dvo or a Nate Danielson, which isn't to say this class is as good as that one. But we wouldn't be banging down Carolina's door for Morrow or LA's for Clarke or NJ's for Nemec, they'd be banging down ours.

You have virtually the same chance of that happening at 13/14 as you do at 9-11.

I'm not necessarily sure we are banging down the door for Morrow or Clarke. Us as fans sure we think it's a good idea. But unless you're pointing towards Radim Mrtka in this draft it's pretty unlikely we address that need this year.

Would rather finish in the 13-20 range and not have had a concern about Parayko's knee when he's playing the best hockey of his career. It took him a couple of years to really bounce back heavily from the back injury - completely different part of the body, but I'm not entirely thrilled at the prospects of having a knee issue for him.

Your first point I disagree with in this draft class. I don't think a talent like Jake O'Brien is there at 13/14-20.

I'm not pointing towards Mrtka, quite the opposite. I'm also not saying we address it this year. I'm not sure what to expound upon here, as I would think what I said was pretty straightforward. We need top end talent. Top end talent allows more possibilities to be on the table.

In terms of us not knowing if we need a mobile, PP type PMD, I think that was what was envisioned with Faulk. He has come up short of those expectations. Whether we address it or not depends on what deals Army is comfortable making, but I don't think anyone would argue that it's a need on the RD.

We're not trading Parayko's knee injury for a prospect. Parayko HAS a knee injury regardless of what we do. It's not a good thing that he got injured. What I'm saying is it's a good thing that it ideally influences selling more so than buying or standing pat because this team has been flawed all year and we shouldn't put all of our stock in a winning stretch. I'm a huge fan of Army, but I think one of his bigger failures, outside of the D contracts, is losing out on better prospect choices in exchange for meaningless wins in March and April.

We have incredible scouting, why wouldn't we want them to have more top 10 picks?

The Hockey Gods HATE us! I'm surprised that they finally allowed us to win The Stanley Cup once. Just when we were clicking together with Monty's system and playing really well. And Parayko played through a lot of pain to help his team have a better chance to win. The team was finally playing the right way with confidence. What a shame.

Probably caught a rut in the ice. That's a long way to fall when you're his height.

Our luck is so bad, it could be raining p***yes and we’d get hit by a dick

Have you seen what the top teams are adding? If we somehow made it, we would get dismantled 1st round in 5 games. No reason to drop our pick and not cash in a few chips here at the deadline. We have a brighter future with a higher 1st and more assets. This is not 2019.

I know some fans see it as Cup or bust, but I'm pretty sure that's not how management, coaches and players look at it. Playoff experience is a great thing and you really never know what can happen. Even winning a round or two can be a great experience.

Obviously the Blues don't have the talent to win a Cup, but I also feel like teams that add big pieces at the deadline often don't win the Cup. But I'm more than OK watching many of our rivals spend assets in their desperation to win. Obviously all but one of them is gonna lose in the end.

This view ignores the value of that playoff push and even a tough first round matchup to the young players on this roster. When you’re fighting to become a contender, there is a learning curve in the postseason. The tanker viewpoint always glosses over that, with ‘Step 3 - profit!’

Not at all, i think next year is the year for the push. By all accounts Snuggy and Dvo will be on the roster by then and they can get the experience as well. This may be our last year to grab a great prospect with a higher pick, and it has shown to already be a sellers market. With Parayko now out, delay gratification, accumulate assets and start next year with the playoff push.

I won’t really agree with this. Winnipeg has a firm grip on the division, and all they did was add Brandon Tanev and Luke Schenn. If they would’ve added both of their brothers instead, then I’d agree lol. I think we’re the last team they want to face out of all the WC2 contenders.

We have to make the playoffs first 🤣

Well, obviously lol. I’m just saying if we do get in, that’s in all likelihood who’d we be playing in round one. Hellebuyck sucks in big games, and they don’t scare me as much as the other contenders.

If it were Dallas or Colorado after the moves they made, then I’d agree.

It was weird because he blew a tire twice in that game as well as Broberg taking an awkward fall.

must be shitty ice and I do recall Thomas going down nearly head first into the boards earlier in the game, luckily he was not moving fast enough at the time to cause injury.

Also, has anyone heard any news of the procedure done to Parayko today?
