He’s also 6’4” . That alone should help the bottom 6

I think he'd be in a healthy competition for 2RW. Nobody's really taken that spot by the throat.

Geekie has the inside track but at some point it just has to be about who's putting up numbers, and not putting in reps for experience. If we were to bring in PJ I'd let those two and Paul fight it out for ice time. Paul and Geekie on the 3rd line together wouldn't be the worst outcome.

Agreed, I really do think it makes sense to give him a shot. Especially when we don’t have to give up any assets.

Idk if we are picking him up but this might be my one chance to post this and say that I don't need to speak a word of Finnish to know this commentary is f***ing lit
 
We know we need an upgrade, and with our cap situation it's all about lottery tickets.

They were exiting the 1st round every year before he came in with said players in their prime and were the bottom of the league the season he came on, he definitely deserves credit for those cups. The Pens roster is simply not good enough to compete and they understate how much their star player's have fallen off yet management keeps forcing cup runs.

Yeah I agree. I don't think it's fair to give Sullivan so much blame. It was kind of a knee jerk answer honestly, because I think those Pens teams were great.

Elliotte Friedman is saying that it looks like two outdoor games are coming to Florida next season. One in Miami and one in Tampa. (start around 50:00)


They wouldn't play each other, though. So congrats again to the Chicago Blackhawks.

The time for an outdoor game at Raymond James was like 2018 at the height of our stars' careers. The time has so long since passed that I don't care they are doing it. At this point the novelty is over and stadium hockey needs to just be like a Tim Horton's Heritage Classic every January 1st or 2nd in Regina between an east and west Canadian team since they have the novelty of being too small a market to ever have pro hockey but have one of *THE* nicest outdoor stadiums in North America in the most neutral possible location

As a TV viewer, I don't care about outdoor games, but they're apparently still a spectacle in person. It's not like they struggle to sell tickets.

Boston is a logical opponent (although you could argue Tampa Bay vs Hurricanes). Espo played for the Hawks and Rangers, but is most synonymous with the Bruins. We also had a rivalry with them from 2011-2020ish. If we're concerned about too much black and gold, then NYR could work.

It's like the Emmy's. They don't give credit to shows in their peak. They wait a few more years for when the quality starts to drop off, and the budgets are ballooning.


I don't know who the Panthers would play. Their biggest rivalry historically is with themselves. Philly sounds about right for some reason.

Chicago getting two outdoor games is still the most likely outcome.

The Rangers literally went from Cup contender to rebuild to Cup contender back to rebuild in the time it took the Academy to recognize us. I figured it was smart to have the Lightning as a road team in all those years. But whatever

Chicago playing Florida makes sense because they travel in packs like dogs. Montreal and Toronto are logical choices too. I just don't know if a Cup and another Finals appearance is enough to offset the 25 years of damage that market went through. I wouldn't blame them if no one cared

We can play anyone and it is my preference we showcase someone else that isn't the Metro. But hey. TV ratings gonna TV rating. Maybe some basketball fans might cross over now that the 3 point shot has finally killed the game and we are up to 100 attempts a night

TV/streaming ratings and having a fanbase that travels well seems to be important. The NHL is in a definite lull right now with the performance of their marquee American teams. NBC possibly cannibalized the league when they had the TV deal. Everything was about knocking smaller markets for the big markets (who were mostly all good at that time). Now the main characters are becoming Winnipeg, Edmonton, Florida, New Jersey, Carolina, etc.

The cows have come home to roost.

Conducting two outdoor NHL games in Florida, doable. Building one (1) new local rink? Ewww. What? No. Not happening.

It'll draw more headlines by being done here, they can do it so they are. It's as simple as that I think.

Except for the people who can get really close, I have to think the viewing experience in a large stadium has to be poor.

I'm curious if that is the general consensus or if it's just particularly awesome for those who get to watch close

It's media people who say that it's much better in person, although their experience would likely be quite different from most fans.

If FL is getting two outdoor games, it's not going to be about the tv ratings.



It's not like the league didn't know there were 13 games on the schedule.

TV ratings are a bit misleading, since there's cord cutting. An overall viewership number would be more representative.

We had just gotten back from out of state and had no idea of the change to NY Eve. Wonder how many other people did the same.
