2024-2025 Blues Trade Proposals Thread.

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
I think JR is trolling me now. His new article this morning begins:

"It’s doubtful that St. Louis Blues general manager Doug Armstrong was basing important decisions about the future of the franchise on the bounce of a puck Wednesday night at Crypto.com Arena."

Two sentences later:

"A loss could have meant putting more thought into the phone calls that will continue to come on captain Brayden Schenn and perhaps others."

Why would a loss mean more thought into phone calls about trading players if the outcome of the game didn't matter? Just tell me he's trolling me so I can stop trying to figure this out.

Clarke looked horrible last night, did zero to stand out. I can see why he's been riding the pressbox, prolly should just eat a bunch of ahl minutes and develop further.
Yeah, that's the issue with guys like Clarke, Nemec, D. Jiricek. They have high value because of draft pedigree, certainly still have lots of upside, but development has highlighted just as many issues.

No way Army can trade Schenn now, We are in the playoff drivers seat. Easiest remaining schedule in the nhl.

I would be shopping some of our magic beans to add to the NHL roster at this point.

Chandler Stephenson anyone? Probably too much term but could be surplus value with the rising cap. Slotting Stephenson inbetween Kyrou and Holloway is intriguing to me.

Define magic beans.

100% no. We were lucky to avoid that contract in the offseason and I want no part of it now.

I think more than anything teams are taking 20, 21, 22 year old defensemen and playing them in the NHL, fans are saying they suck, but the reality is most defensemen don't really hit their stride until 24, 25, 26 and the teams know this

I don't get why Brant Clarke is on the trading block at all. He's a rookie (Not technically but still) who's had solid underlying numbers. I know the Kings are a good team and play a strong, structured game, but he's got an xGF% of 55 and positive SCF% and HDSCF% while being a +11 at 5v5. Now he's been sheltered, no doubt, but he's a rookie defenseman who just turned 22 and has played less then 100 games in the NHL. He's 6'2 and right handed. He skates a little funny, sure, but he just played 12 minutes of a playoff intensity game against us and didn't look out of place.

He screams Vince Dunn to me and any team would be lucky to have him. I don't want to trade anyone off our roster right now with the way we're playing, but if they really are interested in moving him, we should be looking pretty hard at that.

We don't have 2nds and we shouldn't be trading 1sts. We really shouldn't be trading guys like Stenberg or Lindstein either.
The cupboard is looking pretty stocked to me and we are already going to have trouble getting ice time for all of these kids. Fine with also including Stenberg and Lindstein on the list of untouchable prospects. I'd move our 1st in the right deal. Not for a rental but someone with term. With the cap going up, suddenly most of our roster has surplus value. The team on paper always looked pretty good to me and we are starting to see it on the ice.

I wish we were a few years ahead so Marner could be an oprion.

I know there’s a lot of folks that don’t prefer his game, and attitude, and aav, and what the acquisition cost would be. I used to be on the other side of a lot of those issues and I don’t think he’s perfect.

I’m jealous of how consistently he is elite and how much his playstyle elevates anybody who can keep up.

I think the difference for a player in the non tax states is so large that if we experience this change then we will become a place for high value players.

Kyrou being a Toronto native and signed at a cost controlled number would be one of the pieces that would seem to fit well if our timing allowed this type of trade.

I would 100% move our first assuming lotto win protection this year in the right deal. I think the right deal though is going to be extremely difficult to find, and if it's rumored likely isn't available.

Nemec/Clarke - sure move the 1st.

Forward vet with term or a rental - absolutely not.

I would also explore it with a defenseman under 25 who we've pinpointed needs a bigger role - primarily only a RHD.

I'm happy to say it, but I don't fully trust it, but our 3rd line has been playing really well since Joseph was added to Sunny/Bolduc.

I think if we explore anything right now it will likely be moving out Texier, I think there are some teams that would be interested in taking a flyer on him and it's pretty clear that he likely isn't going to be a piece we have roster space for going forward barring a couple of injuries.

If the price is right I would still consider moving Schenn - it would have to be massive as reported and include a center who could play now that's a better contract than Schenn. However, I'm starting to drink the koolaid on this roster and I don't think it's all too beneficial to do so.

If i'm looking for an upgrade on the current roster I'm looking at #2RHD. It's probably just personal opinion, but I don't like watching Faulk. The issue is I don't trust Kessel in that role either and we have no other internal options and I'm not to privy to exploring Broberg or Fowler back on the right side even if they have experience with it.

If this team played half as well in the first half as they tend to do in the last 25 games of the season the last couple years we'd be in a really good spot.

If Byram was right handed, would have to seriously consider it.

Maybe add in a third team …Canadiens? Byram goes there, and one of Reinbacher (6’2”, 209) or Mailloux (6’3”, 212) comes to STL.

STL: Tuch, (RHD) Reinbacher/Mailloux
BUF: Kyrou, STL 2025 1st
MTL: (LHD) Byram

Nah if we are trading Kyrou it has to be a proven young defenseman coming back, I wouldn't move our best offensive player for a maybe.

The original idea seems pretty solid value wise if not even too much in our favor, I bet Buffalo fans would say so. I don't know if I would pull the trigger on that though, both those guys are due huge raises (Byram this summer, Tuch next) Are they willing to sign reasonable deals to stay in STL? Tuch will be about 30 when he signs that new deal too, probably isn't going to age well. Hard to say honestly but if moving Kyrou I would want a similar aged or younger proven RD, an interesting idea though
